i have this question ya~

mbb say new cards will reach me end Oct (still no sign of it yet) and I need to travel to Japan early Nov, I foresee that I may not be able to get new cards and activate it before I leave.

I should be able to use my old cards in Japan right, just with signature and without the pin? read somewhere saying that if no pin, card cannot be used?

thank you~

Yes, still can be used. I sign all the time. Even now I have PIN & Pay card, I'm still signing in overseas. Currently in Bangkok now.
In Japan, China, Europe, all I sign even China and Europe use PIN most of the time.

Can you apply for BT if the PIN & Pay card is not active?
Many said cannot apply BT until that is activated.

ok but this can be argued cos you can mention that you haven't receive the cards and there's just BT payment expected but all this doesn't show up if you don't activate it

just found out this was because it wasn't charged yet, now that the BT has been charged I can see the amount even if the card has not been activated

For credit cards, most of the banks have opted for Poslaju mail drop. I checked with Poslaju fellows as I wanted it that way because most of the time my house has nobody around.

Nope. It is not an inappropriate handling by Pos Malaysia, it is the request by banks. If you can see on the Poslaju packaging, it has mail drop stamp. This is due to heavy PIN & Pay cards replacement exercise, most banks have opted for this option. I got from UOB via Poslaju.
