Digi is now also heavily advertising that their network is 4G PLUS (aka LTE-A), this webpage used to only mention 4G, now everything is replaced with 4G PLUS.

I'm not sure what's the difference between LTE-A device and the usual LTE device, probably just the download/upload speed? I can be wrong, non IT literate, anyway. But it was out of stock yesterday so I opted for the 5577S LTE device, instead. My thought is that even with the LTE-A device, would there be a service available locally in Malaysia that allow anyone to fully utilize the capability of the device?

LTE-A is a more advanced version of the current LTE. It allows two cell tower to work together to help increase your download speed and ease congestion on a single tower. Opting for a LTE device is fine if you are already getting great speeds. Currently all 3 major telco are offering LTE-A but only Digi is making a huge push for it. So far, Digi has the widest LTE-A network.

Thank you, so much. I have a better understanding on it now. Contract with the 60GB plan and the device last for a year. Probably by then, it would be time to change again. I was so stupid to be paying for Maxis broadband back then, until I have a good read and comparisons on it. After all, DiGi LTE coverage in my housing area has improved tremendously for the past years. Best part, I can use the device overseas with a different SIM.

Not all LTE devices are compatible with VoLTE, for example, iPhone 5s does not support it.

EDIT: I just checked, the iPhone 5s has ter hardware required for VoLTE, but for some reason Apple has decided not to enable it for the 5s.

U assuming LTE only device is normal lorry, LTE-A device is normal vehicle on the road.

In LTE only network = 1 lane road, all lorry n vehicle jam in a lane.
In LTE-A network = 2 lane road, all lorry stuck at lane 1, while normal vehicle can use both lane
