That package is actually offered by the host itself. If you signed up as host, there is no option for you to say how long are you subscribing it for. Host made it that way to ease the payment for participants, else host gonna collect money from you every month.

By making it 1 year or half a year, do transaction once and get the service until the next cycle. Easy for both parties.
