Hi people, should I open an epf account or get the account number before starting to work (fresh grad)? Or do I have to wait till I've started working?

I noticed during job application they ask for epf number, and I don't have one

QUOTE(KoChun @ Oct 6 2016, 10:57 AM) You can leave those blank. Oh I see, thanks! Company only need it /address when you are employed. EPF is employee provident fund = mainly savings for retirement. SOCSO is worker's insurance = payout in case worker accident at work / to-and-from work. EPF is deducted from workers salary and contribution by employer based on % of salary. If full time employment, HR usually register these for you. If contract or part time, some companies may omit this. I cannot say I agree but salary more important. When you get your payslip, ask your HR how to identify you income tax LHDN number. If the register for you, then if you fall into income tax deductable bracket, then you have to declare yourself by April. If not, then nothing. Around March, you can go to EPF office request for your EPF annual statement last year, see who contribute and how much. |

QUOTE(KoChun @ Oct 6 2016, 11:17 AM) This is because some HR functions are archaic old. And after the interview: the most hated part - waiting for phone to ring for days But as job seekers, we must play along. Family, they wonder if you will get pregnant and got maternity leave or if you Dad is Tan Sri or grandfather is Tun Razak. That's why foreign media call it, cronyism Work is because they want to know what is your work experience. I had experience companies try to steal my current company info like ask what is my cost, under pretex of wanting to determine if I can count cost. Ya right. Like I did not pass exam know how to calculate percentage. Anyway give a simple description of what you do daily and key responsibilities. Study is to verify your qualification, scope of study. What is the difference between Accounting vs Finance degree grad. So you have to explain what you study, your experience. Besides, lots of people just hang out at Uni or even just buy certs. So explain what are your favourite subject relevant to the job, like counting... very important in Ac-counting. Address is that they prefer to hire someone who live nearby. If you live far, always late, they prefer someone near. So you can answer if I get this job, I can switch my rent to some where nearby so save time on commute. What you said, some of it matters, some don't, some to make conversation with you. But if you respond poorly like, why do you care, I just want job. They are going to hire the next guy. What doesn't really matter is your salary. You can just explain, are you ready to hire me? When do you want me to start? If not I like to reserve the discussion about salary for confirm employer only. Why? Because my employer made me promise to keep salary info confidential. See my employment contract is standard: Confidential. If I reveal, I can lose my job. What is your salary? (see if interviewer tell you or not) |
