Hi do you mind tell me the best maxillofacial doctor in malaysia? Thankyou
*
I just had an orthognathic(double jaw) surgery on the 24th fo sept.

I'm not sure if he's the best or what so, but I highly recommend Prof. Zainal Ariff at UMSC. My recovery went almost as twice as fast as a normal rate. I've already started chewing on my 7th day when it typically takes 2-3 weeks.

Hi.. How much does it cost for the surgery?
Does it take long from consultation to surgery?
I'm looking for options. Thx

Since mine is in a private hospital, it cost way more then HUKM, the total cost for my surgery is RM52k, Thankfully, my insurance covers the cost.

The consultation are a bit long since the orthodontist needs to prepare your teeth to get as accurate as possible on the surgery. I wore braces for 15months before my surgery date.

Though, a piece of advice from me. For the surgery, ask your dr, don't rely on blog post or someone on the internet. Cause every surgeon has their own way. Pretty much every post about recovery I've read is very untrue.

Hi, do u mind to share more bout ur after surgery?
1, I gt fren did surgery in Malaysia n after anesthesia gone n feel very very pain... N I also gt fren did in Thailand n Korea but after anesthesia gone,.. Dint feel pain... So how bout u after ur surgery?

2, I've servay n search all info n compare for the price.... Korea, Thailand n Taiwan.... All at least USD20K and above, it depends every person conditionafter consult n 3D scan...

3, my situation is my jaw gt clicking sound when I open my mouth, asymmetry face and teeth... Asymmetry face very obvious on me... I tried massage... But can't help til I really fed up... The only way can correct it is by surgery... But as I mentioned just now.... Very very expensive...

4, do Any1 know how often HUKM there do this kind of surgery?  And any doctor than can recommend to me?

1. From what I knew, pain after anesthesia are vary form person to person. But in my personal experience, it is a bit painful right after I woke up. The pain quickly goes away when the nurse gave you pain killer injection.

2. I'm no sure about pricing in general since I wasn't concern about it much. But my total quoted cost is RM52k, for double jaw orthognathic surgery and chin implant surgery.

3. Sometimes, overbite/underbite can be fixed by just braces. In general, I have an overbite and misaligned jaw. of course with misaligned jaw my face is no symmetrical. clicking jaw aren't a 100% sure will go away with orthognathic surgery since that's more of a TMJ problem. In my case, my TMJ problem does get better after surgery but it's still there.

4. I did my surgery on UMSC, like I said on previous comment, If price isn't a problem for you I really recommend Prof. Zainal Ariff. Idk about other doctors.

Insurance cover?? Do u mind to share which insurance company? Under medical card or??
*
I'm not really sure about this since my mom handles it. For my surgery, RM40k is covered by a guarantee letter from my mom's workplace. The remaining 12k is covered by prudential insurance.

and, is it worth it? like can you see the difference after the surgery? how much different?
*
Depends on your reason. For appearance, I'm not so sure. but for jaw pain or difficulty of eating, then a big YES.

In general, the major difference to me after the surgery is mainly my eating habits. It's much easier to eat nowadays. I can freaking bite a burger now and it actually cuts.

In term of my appearance, yes I do see quite a lot of difference. Since I used to have an overbite and an uneven jaw, my face looks long and I tend to subconsciously smirk a lot(in a bad way). But now I would say my face looks even and normal. My smile looks normal now and I can smile without being paranoid about how I look. Since my surgery, people I'm close with tend to not recognise me at first, but people that I'm not that close with does recognise me.

Recovery can be very diff from person to person, Like 70% of things I found on the internet doesn't occur to me which is why your Dr will always advise you to not read about the surgery on the internet.
