Hi do you mind tell me the best maxillofacial doctor in malaysia? Thankyou
*
I just had an orthognathic(double jaw) surgery on the 24th fo sept.

I'm not sure if he's the best or what so, but I highly recommend Prof. Zainal Ariff at UMSC. My recovery went almost as twice as fast as a normal rate. I've already started chewing on my 7th day when it typically takes 2-3 weeks.

Hi,

The Total cost of my surgery is RM 9000 (not inlcuded braces)

I took the first consultation when i first post about this topic and i just had my surgery on 9th October 2019.

I really recommend HUKM though. you can always just book an appointment for the consultation.

Is HUKM private wing right?

Mind sharing with me on how to book the appointment for consultation when you get better?
I tried looking at their website, couldn't seems to find the info.

Thx thumbsup.gif

Hi may i know if mild underbite can go for surgery? and current im wearing braces right now (but not for surgery purpose) only for teeth alignment as i was told that my jaw could be aligned only with braces and i thought wrong. And im so frustrated about that i wanna go for surgery (eventhough i had spent many on braces)

Since mine is in a private hospital, it cost way more then HUKM, the total cost for my surgery is RM52k, Thankfully, my insurance covers the cost.

The consultation are a bit long since the orthodontist needs to prepare your teeth to get as accurate as possible on the surgery. I wore braces for 15months before my surgery date.

Though, a piece of advice from me. For the surgery, ask your dr, don't rely on blog post or someone on the internet. Cause every surgeon has their own way. Pretty much every post about recovery I've read is very untrue.

1. From what I knew, pain after anesthesia are vary form person to person. But in my personal experience, it is a bit painful right after I woke up. The pain quickly goes away when the nurse gave you pain killer injection.

2. I'm no sure about pricing in general since I wasn't concern about it much. But my total quoted cost is RM52k, for double jaw orthognathic surgery and chin implant surgery.

3. Sometimes, overbite/underbite can be fixed by just braces. In general, I have an overbite and misaligned jaw. of course with misaligned jaw my face is no symmetrical. clicking jaw aren't a 100% sure will go away with orthognathic surgery since that's more of a TMJ problem. In my case, my TMJ problem does get better after surgery but it's still there.

4. I did my surgery on UMSC, like I said on previous comment, If price isn't a problem for you I really recommend Prof. Zainal Ariff. Idk about other doctors.

I'm not really sure about this since my mom handles it. For my surgery, RM40k is covered by a guarantee letter from my mom's workplace. The remaining 12k is covered by prudential insurance.

I did my surgery in May 2019 @ HKL (Dr. Lee)
- Surgery was alright
- but the result wasn't satisfying as the surgeon decided to upper jaw alone when it was supposed to be both upper and lower (initial place with surgeon and orthodontist)
- recovery wasn't bad, smooth
- the whole process took me 2 years (including braces and surgery) - since both under Gov.

Post Surgery:
- now im getting breathing difficulties.
- getting nose blocked on side. used to be at night only but lately its getting bad to worse.
- orthodontist suggesting to go for another surgery with diff surgeon (to correct both upper and lower and to fix breathing problem)

Confused:
- if i should go to GH or Private. i
- dont mind private IF it covers everything under medical card and if they can do a proper job

>> Can anyone advice me on this.

Hi mubin,

Seriosuly prudential insurance covered your surgery?,I did ask my insurance agent but why they said prudential can't cover for my surgery.. So sad. I've spent almost RM11k for plate, screw and hospitality. Thats weird..

Today is my 3rd week of post ops, underbite correction. I realise my bracket is falling off and the braces is shaking. However, I can’t open my mouth widely as per normal, Max capacity: 1 finger. Is it advisable to see orthodontist now?

I guess, thats normal. Even when i having my wisdom teeth removal, i can't open my mouth widely. It takes time. You can do jaw exercise.

If you feel insecure about your bracket then shouldn't be a problem see your ortho.
