Actually this is what I'm planning to do. My ultra book has a micro sd slot and the new 200gb will stay there permanently. Hopefully it can read my 200gb as the manufacturer says it takes up to 128gb only.
Be careful, make sure its a high quality microSD/thumb drive else it'll be really slow. And even if it is, not recommended to store things that frequently need change/write/delete, as flash drives aren't as 'tahan' as hard disk drives (at least those used in thumb drives/micro SD). Easier to corrupt as well if power shortage.
Good for keeping your store of photos, videos, music. Not good for using with dropbox file sync or any other work related things (where you have to constantly edit and write and move and rename).
