but yeah, whoever sells the cheapest gets the sales, unless the product is defective or often arrive broken. when alibaba sets up it's warehouse here, we will see people importing fridges & toilet bowls here. not saying those things don't come from China but requires bulk import from distributors who then marks up the cost.

alibaba, the sellers might even be able to dodge duties & GSTs.

nowadays only thing in malls only thing can survive is F&B because that you cannot simply buy online, yes got Foodpanda but choice limited also have to wait. but F&B is such a high risk business with high operating cost unless you open warung or stall.

most Malaysia vendors are just middleman, or distributors, we don't have much production or innovation, those so called New Ideas all actually come from China or West, so our cost would still be higher compared to China.

only way to succeed is selling branded goods, but with our high import tax & GST, we can't really make them affordable.

and even if you really invented good stuff, it only takes China factory 3 days to replicate your product and sell at a fraction of your cost. unless it involves high tech stuffs that cannot be copied. but they will come up with their own less superior but similar product.

in Europe, Taiwan & Japan local companies can still survive, because locals support local brands. in Malaysia, people feel ashamed when buying local stuffs, apart from wooden furnitures & Crude Oil i don't think we superior materials here.

in short, in another 2 years most Malaysians will bump into financial difficulties due to most SME closing down as we cannot compete directly against China companies as Government removed most restriction on Chinese traders.

the main reason is the heavy subsidies of China Shipping companies by the government allowing Chinese sellers to penetrate foreign market at lower cost than local sellers. This was not possible few years ago.

imagine shipping the whole container worth of stuffs from China warehouse to your doorstep. you don't even need to deal with customs. pretty much 80% stuff in your house can be brought in from China.

the 3-4 weeks waiting is ok as long as it's not urgent.

I have ordered item from 4 different seller and made the payment this Tuesday. But until today the item status remain as preparing for shipment. And one of them did changed to shipping in progress but the tracking number is not working for 2 days.

What can I do to check for updates and request for item to start delivering?
