i don't think there are two different chips for china set and local set for Mi Max.
Since Redmi Note 3 Pro is also using SD650 while various SD652 also supported LTE B5, there should be no issue for all Mi Max model to support LTE B5 even though it is china set.
i think you might be confuse with the china website and malaysia website but there are only two CPU models for Mi Max, which are SD650 with 32GB ROM + 3GB RAM and SD652 with 64GB ROM + 3GB RAM or 128GB ROM + 4GB RAM.
for those who own Mi Max china set, you can try install LTE discovery or any LTE band detection apps and you should be able to check whether you are able to connect to LTE band 5 for webe or not.
dial *#*#4636#*#* to force your phone to connect to LTE only in order not disturb by the network switching back to 3G.

Digi only talk cock la, MIUI8 support VoLTE and i don't think they got alien VoLTE.
Only thing is wifi calling, you need download special ROM for iphone.

anyway, already using webe from 1pm  ..till 7pm, already used up to 500MB.

speed is ok. in my area in kajang, H+ (8mbps) is much faster than LTE (2mbps). however, in some place here, the LTE speed goes up to 18mbps.

but H+ seem not as stable as LTE.

they seem to cap the download speed also on Google Playstore to ~3mbps.
overall is okay. youtube no lags.
