our computer isn't safe at all even had anti virus intalled. i tried(accordingly)
- AVG
- AVast
- kaspersky
and
- AntiVir

my experienced tell me that,

Avast able to detect the virus which AVG can't.
AntiVir able to detect backdoor virus which AVG n Avast n kaspersky can't.

so i come to this conclusion non of any anti virus are reliable. I wasn't mean they r not good but i realized diff anti virus has diff sensitivity. So it is pointless to say discuss which is good until we try it out ourselves.

while writing this thread, i had a suggestion which is change anti virus from time to time.

Did u manage to update them before scan ur pc?

why you dun make a conclusion "we should acquire 2 or more antivirus at one times" ??

Bad idea. You would be Over clogging your registry, thus might be causing slow performance and sometimes BSOD. You can opt for 2 AVs. It might not make much of a difference, but you can do so for safety sake. Refer my Siggy for SAFE Combinations.

Installing more than 1 antivirus in a single Windows may cause a lot of problems, conflicts, etc. Besides, the time it takes to scan your files is not something you'd like to see.

thats why need to do research
and find a good combination between all of the AV!!

For the uninitiated, the combo that works for me = AVS +Nod32[on demand scanner only]

Yet, if you switch AV after a period of time, what's the point anyway?

i was using AVG at first then i change to AVAST,Avast able to detect virus wihtin my pc while AVG can't. After a while i give a try on kaspersky and it is fine.. until i change to AntiVir, its able to detect "agent.b" on a tracker site which i always visit which AVG,AVAST and kaspersky not able.

so i came out this suggestion of changing anti virus from time to time.
i wasn't saying using multiple anti virus together.
anyway i'm using ZA security suite.

First, you get the fuss of uninstalling and reinstalling AVs all the time.
Secondly, if your uninstallation fails you're gonna be in deep trouble such as NAV or KAV.
Third, the reason why some antivirus detects what others can't because they don't have a similar virus database. Anyway if they are the same why bother switching it then?

If you are really paranoid, having 2 AVs will cover most of the "overlooked" Signatures. If you insist on Installing 1 AV then Uninstalling, then Installing Another AV, be my guest. You have all freedom to do so, but we would advice you not to. many complications after that. Cheers!

it might be the virus library ?
may be some are big some are small ..
but nothing is prefect
why not install 2 - 3 AV
and scan accordingly ,
use AV 1
then follow up by AV 2 then AV 3

no things perfect la...if the perfect one was created,then nobody will buy the other one.so,simple say no reliable AV.but some of AV working perfect.depend to the user itself...

my fren com got all 4 anti virus running 24/7 ler

i think the best should be
1 Firewall + a few AntiVirus + a few Anti Spyware/Malware

and there is some AV software which also can anti spyware/malware

yeah...im agreed.most of the thing had been discussed.maybe some forumer need quick solutions so that didnt make a search before ask a thing

IMO AV= waste money. Especially those with firewall.
Best would be just having Lavasoft's adware ,spybot and hijack that's pretty enough. AV is more like concept of Pacman swallowing polka dots.

well as for me, works well and peace of mind

1st system - AOL AVS + AdWare SE Pro + Windows Defender + Outpost Firewall

2nd system - ZoneAlarm 7 Security Suite (this is pretty good i must say)

3rd system - none

IMO, even with 10 most powerful Firewall/AVs/AMs but not with smart surf, they just ineffective as there's none AVs/AMs/Firewall...
