I see, so 5k TP as well for FCB VS, thanks!
*
10k TP = RM25 SST, so, for m2cards need 20k TP, FCB VS still need 10k TP, not 5k TP

QUOTE(fruitie @ Sep 28 2018, 05:11 PM)
I'm not sure if it will really charge me next month which I think it will and my card expiry follows the M2Cards which is April.
Let's see.

As per their TnC is following card expiry month

Is it right that the SST is charged based on expiry month and not card issue month?

If i refer to Guideline from custom quoted below:

Cards issued before 1 September 2018 and valid for several years Service tax shall be imposed on the date of renewal and every 12 months after the renewal date.

Example 3
A new credit card is issued on 18 May 2018 with a validity period for five years. The issuer of the credit card shall impose a service tax in every monthly statement covering 18 May 2019, 18 May 2020, 18 May 2021 and 18 May 2020.

My case is very weird:
Card A - approved on Nov 16 - expiry month Nov
Card B - approved on Oct 17 - expiry month Oct
Card C - approved on Jun 18 - expiry month Oct

Card A & B expiry month follow card approval month, but, Card C follow Card B expiry.  rclxub.gif

Yeah, Maybank SST FAQ states that SST is charged on card expiry month. Then again, Custom SST FAQ states that SST is charged on card anniversary month (card approval month).

If that is the case, Maybank SST charging does not fully complies with Custom SST FAQ, particularly in the case in which Maybank cardholders have many credit cards.

Example:

First Maybank Credit Card: Approved on November 2015.

Second Maybank Credit Card: Approved on April 2016.

Third Maybank Credit Card: Approved on December 2017.

In this example, the expiry month embossed on all 3 credit cards is November.

For the second Maybank Credit Card, the cardholder is at losing side. Rightfully, based on Custom SST FAQ, SST for second Maybank Credit Card should be charged on April 2019, but is charged instead on November 2018.

As such, for the second Maybank Credit Card, it is unfair that the cardholder loses out on SST-free period from November 2018 to March 2019. Maybank should rightfully impose the SST, based on anniversary month of each individual credit card, not the anniversary month of the first Maybank Credit Card. Annual fee of the relevant Maybank credit cards (if any, payable to Maybank, not government), can still be imposed on the anniversary month of the first Maybank Credit Card, as per usual practice.

Can we lodge a complaint to Maybank, citing poor compliance with Custom SST FAQ?
*
I’ve raise similar concern earlier at m2cards thread. I do feel that Maybank approach is not appropriate especially for those who apply additional card later, for eg. If I apply card in sep and activate in sep, I need to pay SST upon activation in sep, but, the card expiry date shown as Nov, does it mean that I need to pay sst again in Nov if follow expiry date?

So far, most bank expiry date follow card issue month. Only MBB n SCB (that I aware) expiry date follow ur existing card expiry instead of issue month. But, only MBB follow expiry date in such case. SCB even though expiry date not follow issue month, but they will charge sst based on issue date for existing card

From my experience... I got M2 Visa/Amex in March 2011, but the expiry is 10/xx.
Service Tax was charged in April 2011. Maybank didn't charge immediately when the new cards were issued.
Maybank didn't charge another service tax on 15/10/2011. Maybank charged again on 15/10/2012.
So I assume the service tax will not be charged twice in a calendar year.
*
If based on this philosophy, then for newly approved card in 2018 activate b4 September 2018, they shouldn’t charge it this year as the card not even reach 12 months if they would like to follow expiry date

The Government should start collecting card service tax from January 2019. Now everyone confuse including Customs and Banks.

The Govt should charge RM0.0685 per day to be calculated from 1/9/2018 or activation date to 31/12/2018 for 2018.
*
Whichever date it start collecting still will have issue.. haha..

As I know, custom didn’t give clear guideline to banks too.. every bank write in to clarify but custom unable to provide a clear direction.

[Quote]
16. Service tax shall be imposed on the date of issuance or renewal of the credit card or charge card or on every twelve months after the date the card is issued or renewed. [Quote]

This statement is confusing.. it should only stated as every 12 months the card is issued. With the “or renewed” add on confusion, since if u put card issuance date as sst charge date, it will be 12 months period from a cardholder who hold the card, if follow expiry date, mbb will have problem where some cardholder hold less than 12 months or more than 12 months only get charge..

I believe "or renewed" is purposely added, probably after consulting bank representatives.
With the clause "or renewed", technically bank can charge us SST during our renewal with less than 12 months (following card expiry month).
This will give the bank more flexibility when dealing with SST.
Just my thought.

If expiry date is Oct, u should be able to c the SST by now.. my card expired on Oct and i saw the sst posted as unbilled in m2u d

I was expecting my FCB VS to be charged in my latest statement, looks like it will not happen then.
*
As I know, most bank expiry date follow card issue month.. so, other bank won’t have this kind of “unfair” treatment if u hold more than 1 card from the same bank..

So far, I know MBB & SCB follow first card expiry date.. but, only MBB charge SST follow card expiry date.. SCB follow issue date instead of expiry

If given a choice, I will prefer to use TP since I have them rather than paying with cash. Well, that's my thought, not about the money. smile.gif

Agree, sometime it is the principle that make us feel like disputing..

TP exchanges to voucher is actually not useful to me as I force to go to those shop to spend, therefore, I prefer redemption to cash..

Now I wonder, if my visa signature didn’t earn enough point, can I use m2platinum point to redeem for visa signature, as visa signature is cashback with TP feature card

Already stated cannot in the MBB VS TnC and PDS if you plan to transfer TP from other cards to MBB VS and use it to redeem for cash.
MBB VS TP is exclusive for MBB VS only.

P/S: MBB VS not FCB VS
*
I know cannot redeem for cash, I’m asking for redemption for SST.. i missed out the sst part..

N same like, if my m2amex didn’t have enough point for sst, can I use Visa Signature card tp to redeem sst for m2amex?

Anybody has redeemed your Treatspoints for FCB Service Tax Fee?

Kindly be informed that we can only proceed with Service Tax Treatspoints redemption for Maybank 2 Cards Amex since Maybank Visa Signature Barcelona is a Cash Back card. Hence, you are required to pay the Service Tax fee for the said card. We seek your kind understanding on this.
*
With this, can’t confirm d..

QUOTE(David83 @ Oct 25 2018, 06:17 PM)
I think for SST redemption, it is the only exemption.
You can use TP from another card to redeem SST for another card.
This has been discussed and shared in other MBB CC threads.

based on my today's chat with CS, yes for MBB VS' sst redemption using TPs earned from other cards.

her point was redemption is only allowed for cards which can earn TP.
i brought up this specific point to her whereby i was told redemption can be to ANY cards, even FCB VS which doesnt earn TP.

i dug out my call records (date/time), and CS called me back this afternoon. she managed to dug out the exact call record made from CS -> me (callback confirmation). now they are reviewing the call chat it  laugh.gif
darn, i managed to rake up 40k TPs now, just enough for 2 maybank cards (m2c amex + fcb vs) SST redemption for the next 2 years.

if i can only redeem for m2c amex, i would have excess TP which going to expire after 3 years. vmad.gif

Hope they can grant wat their cs advised to u n change their “policy” again..

Earliest can be Sep since mbb follow expiry date to charge sst n not issue date

i ask CS on this before. She mentioned that SST only charge once on each FY. If u activate ur card on Nov18, u will be charged SST on Dec 2019.
*
This one really dunno who to believe, to play safe, better apply it on expiry month. Else, any dispute, they will say follow mgmt decision even got call recording like cybpsych question on FCB TP redemption from other card to offset FCB card ST

As I remember fruitie also asked mbb n the cs asked her to apply only on expiry month to avoid paying 2 times

actually the example in the FAQ, didnt says pay twice within 1 year right? its just that its not "worth" if you apply before your expiry month because you paid SST for 1 year already but only use for few month , then kena charge SST of another year
*
Too bad the example given doesn’t have expiry month which is fall in December.. so, there r still grey area to argue.. but, try at own risk..
