I was thinking of going tmr early morning to Batu Caves to shoot my assignment on Malaysia cultural heritage. Its kind of last minute and something that just came to my mind.

Now thinking of how to go there. Any idea where to park car?

So, Anybody shooting at Batu Caves tomorrow.

You have to go very early or else it would be very crowded.
Perhaps you can think of taking a public transport. Car park is available but you might have to walk a distance.

^ yes..tripod enough already..
good camera but the photog skill bad also useless..

the best way to go there is by public transport(cab or bus)..
no offence to all the indian but i kena already once stuck in the jam for so long just to past by batu caves..all those dobule parking..and also got triple parking..on the middle of the highways..

so if you with your own car..either you go early then ur car been buried inside the triple parking which you cannot get out later..or go normal time..then park as far as almost giant there..then walk all the way to the temple there..

hellish?..yes!

Better go by public transport to avoid road closure.
You can park in GIANT (as VINCE said) and walk to Batu Caves, GIANT car park is free and other car parks around charges a flat rate.
Try coming from Sentul and then you would see GIANT 1st.

I'm coming from MR2. Is Giant accessible from there? I think parking in Giant would be fine, how long is it...15 min walk?

I did consider having someone drop me off there but I'm scared it will be damn jam when I'm going back (probably before afternoon). I heard there is KTM going there no? Maybe I can go back using the train biggrin.gif

Yup, GIANT is accesible from there but you cannot take the flyover heading to Batu Caves because you miss the junction turning into GIANT.
If you are coming from South (Cheras/Seri Kembangan and etc), when you reach a split road to Gombak/Sentul/Batu Caves, you should follow the Gombak route and reach a traffic light. Then you turn right and go straight, you should see GIANT.
About 15-20mins walk.
Damn syok lah you guys get to shoot pics.
cry.gif cry.gif Too bad for me, tomorrow I am working.... cry.gif cry.gif
So near yet to far............

Anyway hope the info helps.

I was thinking to go for shoot outing during this Thaipusam too.
Btw park your car at the Giant is better. I heard from a tourist, if you park at the Batu Caves car park, you will be charged RM10.

how to use tripod in such a crowded place?

1. Park far away
2. Carry as little gear as possible
3. Respect the devotees and don't get in their way
4. Don't force a picture if they don't want it taken
5. Go there early, last series I saw, at 4am, it was already crowded

Have fun smile.gif

Now this makes me thinking twice before go there.

Me n my friends have a plan to go there on Saturday. But 3am or 4am in the morning? Is it true they held the event very early in the morning??
We're thinking to go there around 11-12 in the afternoon, will we still get the main event if we go to Batu Cave around that time?

I'm still new in Malaysia, so don't know much bout Thaipusam schedule.

And can I go to Batu Cave by using KTM from Tasik Selatan?

Thanks in advance.

i thought thaipusam is supposed to be crowded then only got things to photograph.

go super early and no one there or only 2 indians in kavadis... and 10 to 20 photographers taking photographs of these 2 indians?

you thought model shooting during kl photo fest?
