That’s soon! Interesting. I wonder whether some banks are holding off from Apple Pay support until MyDebit support is enabled. Regardless, bypassing Visa/MC and using our domestic scheme instead would certainly lower transaction costs for locally issued debit cards.

Is Alliance bank going to support Apple Pay soon for the Alliance Bank Visa Virtual Credit Card?

Alliance Bank did clearly commit that they will also support Apple Pay. Let's hope they fulfill this commitment, unlike that useless sotong bank puke.gif

A virtual card is mainly for card-not-present transactions, meaning you can use it for online purchases, subscriptions, and other digital payments. It doesn't have a physical card. Regarding Alliance Bank's virtual card, it offers the advantage of creating a "new card" for single use, enhancing security by allowing you to dispose of it after use. However, they can also be used in physical stores by adding them to mobile wallets like Apple Pay (future) or Google Wallet, allowing for contactless payments. But now only enabled with Google Pay and Samsung Pay

Do you think Alliance Bank would honour supporting Apple Pay or they would conveniently forget like CIMB?

Found this 2023 paper by Australian Payments Plus that features a study on MyDebit/PayNet in Malaysia.

Interesting find was this sentence, which lines up with what you said (not that I was doubting you): “ In September 2022, the international card networks introduced mobile payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay). PayNet is now exploring mobile payment capability for MyDebit to address the issue of the default routing requirement being circumvented at MyDebit merchants through the debit card provisioned on a mobile payment.”

Well I mean we don’t even have anything from MyRapid also. KTM got support but no Express Transit variant.

yeah, the fact that not all stations on Putra Heights / Kelana Jaya line support debit cards, makes it unusable lol. even their token machines are cash only.

Well, usually there would be delay for something tough.
Now still early to say anything.
For me, I believe this is not a joke, as I can see Madani government is willing to end TNG's monopoly

If can support public transportation system similar to Suica card in Japan would be damn great. Just create a virtual TnG card and reload it as needed.

Yes, Suica is so good. I like it a lot when I used it in Japan, just tapped it with my Apple Watch.

Thanks to Apple Pay & Suica, I literally went cashless except for one Ramen shop that accepts only cash. Rest is just Suica reload via Wise on Apple Pay and PayPay Touch N Go. smile.gif

They must be brave enough to make the tuff decision, otherwise it's just an empty talk.

Hi there! I’m having a bit of trouble adding my Maybank credit card to Apple Pay. I’m not sure if this is a my card issue or if there’s something wrong with Maybank.

Would anyone mind taking a look?

Just call CS. In fact, just a few of days ago, one of my credit cards has just been replaced with a new one as the previous has expired. I cannot get it added and called CS to manually verify for me. All is OK and Apple Watch is also OK.
