Hi,

May I know which is a good buy between the Proton Preve (2016) and the new Proton Persona (2016)?

Is it a good choice to buy a Proton Preve now or they will be a new successor (new model or facelift) to it soon?

Comparing it's features and price. Is the Preve worth the money compared to the Persona?

Yes. Worth it. Preve is much bigger than persona. A lot bigger.
I personally like the suprima more.

If not rushing, u should wait for new preve equip with new tgdi engine..

That will take at least a another 2 years down the road. And the reliability is not there yet. at least current CFE and VVT engine is already known to be Ok

reliable enough to win Sepang 1000km endurance race beating the likes of Honda VTECs with only a comedian in the drivers seat.

Preve is a much bigger car, can seat 3 chidl seat at the back seat.

Currently Persona has a quieter cabin and better fuel economy compared to Preve

the sepang endurance preve use NA iafm 1.6..not the cfe vvt.

lol!! then at that point you shpuld also wait for the engine to come after that~

makes sense if the engine is arriving soon... 2 years is not in anyway soon~

just fyi... other than the lack of siputs, their competitors were the run of the mill fuel sipping vtecs not the nastier variants

Persona.

Better NVH and more efficient engine. CVT also better than Preve.

Unless Proton overhauls the Preve massively, the Persona is a better buy.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but there is no rationale reason to buy any Proton. I'm not eager to start a debate now, but please do see options including the Kia Rio, and 3-year-old VW, Kia, Hyundai models before settling on anything. There is world of difference in factors to consider both short-term and long-term when comparing any car against a Proton.

the engine at sepang uses CFE engine block. It does not matter as long as VTEC got tah pau

The Proton also not using siput it is Naturally Aspirated Engine S4PH block driven by amateur driver against VTECs with pro driver

The ride and handling of Proton is superior to Kia, Hyundai. and now with improved NVH it is already can be considered on par with some other established manufacturer. have you test drive?

You must be kidding with Kia Rio rite?
Its not like we get the latest and greatest Rio here..
With the 6 speed AT...
A 4speed AT in this day and age?
Better buy Alza for the price..
Or even Vios..

Easier to maintain too.. with SC everywhere..

most protons, yeah.... have tested 'most' of them (no luck finding a juara, arena, putra, you know those less common old ones). Not gona deny, the ride and handling is impressive, I myself have always said that proton does rather well in the handling/safety department. I have also said proton leaves much to be desired where built quality is concerned and in the engine tech department. vvt is nothing new, their take on vvt is still nothing impressive. It is just another application of vvt on their own engine.

The new persona, however i have only seen and touched, not test driven. As far as what i think about it? exterior looks pretty decent, actually like the front of this thing, the butt not so much but alright but the sides..... my god the stupid looking rims. largish body with tiny tyres make it look terrible. Interior?still lots of hard plastic (cheap pricetag, no real complaints here) and notchy switches (i think carried over from the iriz). I just dont get why they used 'brown/beige' for the centre trim.... makes it looks cheap. Rear interior space is actually much much much smaller than i had anticipated, based on the iriz so expected i guess... (least its better than the beza's upright rear seats~)

now as far as what you can tell in the test drive, friend said, its quieter (has a iriz, persona and neo in his household) ride but where handling is concerned, compared to the old persona, its not as nice to drive. It's a lighter smaller less wide car, even the sales man who spoke to him agreed, felt less stable than the old persona. (does not seem to hug the road as well) and its performance is terribad.

if you consider the price of this thing, bolehlah...

Go and test drive the Persona yourself. Don't just take your friends word.

it doesn't matter VVT is impressive or not. what matters is the result of engine response and fuel economy. Driving from Jengka 19 to tanjung lumpur in under 2 hours and returns 5.4L/100km is impressive enough.

Very typical people who condemn Proton never even ride in one, especially the current one.

If you want the persona, make sure you book it before 30 September because the free 3 year service and parts promotion is only until this date. The 5 year warranty on persona still remains after this date.

Source: proton dealer. I am in proton right now surviving my suprima. BTW, the saga launch is today at 2 or 3 pm. The car is here now under wraps

Maybe next 10 years when the German guy have time to use his BMW M pedigree on all cars.

3 year old vw = need to pay on parts. Persona cheaper here.

Persona has better fit than preve but less finish materials. I just been through the car like 2 hours ago. It is better than iriz.

On another note. Proton stopped making iriz 1.6 2 months now. Better get it quick. Dealer told me

mystvearn, already booked but the waiting time is too much. So reconsidering Preve Premium or wait for Persona.

Still in big dilemma.
