guys..
this is my first time posting in here...
got my 1st MG which is the Strike IWSP..
havent build it yet...
and MG Crossbone Full Cloth also with Astray Blue Frame 2nd L will be coming late march/early april..
just wanna know, do most of u guys paint ur gundam or just do the lining using marker?
i know the unpaint gundam looks kinda dull...
how u guys paint it?
using the danny choo methid for buzy people or build then only spray?
i'm planning for my IWSP but some parts are difficult to paint..
the fin pieces for the IWSP are kinda hard to paint coz its already white but the inner turbine in the picture shows grey..
how do u guys solves the hard to paint part issue?

noob question.

is it just me or the gundam marker i bought is thin?

what i mean thin is like water color thin, too much water to the paint..

i bought the seed destiny 6 pcs marker yesterday bcoz i want to paint my SD Force Impulse..

i'm not keen on using the sticker provided so i experiment on my crumble NG 1/144 flimsy Gundam before i paint my SD..

the marker ink is like flowing all the way...

can somebody help?

thx..

i got a suggestion here to consolidate an FAQ for gundam modelling in the 1st post of every new thread. This so that the same ques won't be asked over n over again lor

maybe can sort with different categories such as

links to gundam releases, dalong, 1999.co.jp
links to assembly/air brush/hand paint
links to nicely modded/painted gunplas
where to buy gunpla/paintssin KL
what are HGUC/MG/PG etc
*
i hope i'm not offending anyone here..

i have to agree with lurker..

i know that most u learned gunpla the hard way, trial n error, countless researches, being a member in other forums and so on...

as a noob in gunpla, i'm still not confident enough in building my kits yet also with lack of time to build them..

the only thing i build were the artillery bcoz i'm afraid on deforming my kits...

as at 1st i dont mind but once i got here, its like i'm hyped but yet still unsure...

one of my questions is still unanswered, the method u guys build them..
a.whether u guys snap fit everything then only color it,
b.color them like danny choo does then build them and touch up along the way,
c.built and paint part by part,
d.just panel lining them

if u guys are reluctant in sharing ur knowledge, why dont u just create a thread, post all possible links for a noob like me, then pinned them so that u guys wont get any useless questions which should just be ignored and count them as ignorant questions..

this thread is already up to v4 and its like noobs like me are required to read up from v1 to avoid unnecessary questions...

assisting noobs arent spoon fed them, u just share ur knowledge yet noobs are going to do everything by themselves..mistakes will be made along the way but hey, its fun learning and the fact that there are ppl that wish to lend a helping hand *theoretically*, it'll be awesome...

sorry for the long post...

u can ignore this post if u feel that its irrelevant.

thx guys for ur input..really appreciate them...

i sayang my MG's, thats why kinda unsure on building them without deforming them..

i even deformed my those cheapo NG 1/144 just for the sake of experiment using markers, putty and even sanding them...

for me, AB out of my league as time is not on my side...i mean the time needed to learn to control the AB pen...also, budget wise for now, kinda empty...

i might consider the spray can + hand paint method...

oh, is there any guide for stripping enamel paints?

i found guide on stripping acrylics, but havent found for enamels coz from forums like wired-wolf and plamo-outhere, they use enamels for lining aka washing method..
i found this very handy rather than using markers...

just curious let say after ur kit is done, then say few months u wanna repaint them, is it possible to strip the topcoat and enamel paint?

AB I guess will be the initial investment cost, a bit on the high side, but if u do these models regularly, then its a good investment lar...

as an initial investment, i agree..
the time i need to invest, that one quite tricky right now... biggrin.gif
might give it a go one day..
have to start a fund called "duke's AB fund".. laugh.gif

Dont ever try any thinner from hardware shop unless u are pretty sure those thinner are weak. I tried various thinner from hardware shop and I ended up turning my kits into goo. tongue.gif My best bet is to use the DOT3 brake oil for automobile. If i am not mistaken, it can strip acrylic, enamel and lacquer paint.

thx for all the input...i've read in other forums that they also use brake oil for stripping paint, but most of them use acrylics for painting..
this is used on model cars as model cars have bigger space areas rather than gundam..
as for gundams, if not mistaken, they use Windex a.k.a Magiclean, which Magiclean, i dont know..

But now i have a problem. D place where i just moved in is very DUsty.. example: after i wipe my black wooden table...after few hours/immediately u can see dust gathering on top already. So my question is.. How can i Avoid these dust from sticking to my just painted model? I don dare to start even washing it as i know if i din painted right away.. d dust will start gather on top again.. grrr.. any idea how to face this?

My NG 1/144 models got deformed by this..even at priming stage as i use tamiya fine primer spray can, and i spray it outdoor, so, living in a house where the main road is about 50-60m away from my house, this is a problem and i dont have a spray booth..

now i got a spray booth setup made from cardboard box, still in need of adjustments, i was thinking whether can a paint curing box be done?

its like spray booth in a way, u have a duct fan where to placing of the duct fan is totally up to u, but a paint curing box is fully closed, but u cut holes at the top of the booth if ur duct fan is mounted on the side, and other side walls as well but cover the holes with let say, fine cotton cloth or ur used car air filter(make sure not so dirty larr)...will this affect the paint that are currently drying or no need for duct fan at all?
