So, Maxis decided to stop giving me free monthly Spotify, which has been a large deciding factor for staying on Maxis since there are so many better competitors out there.

I'm currently using the Maxis One Plan RM98, back around March, I registered porting my number to Celcom but during the porting process (right after I replied the SMS to agree my porting), Maxis quickly gave me a call to ask me to stay on Maxis with the Maxis 98 package with a rebate of RM30 monthly, which then I'm obliged to pay RM68 monthly (this seems fair). BTW, it used to be the RM158 package before the price revision.
With the free spotify subscription (which is my main music app for my pc and phone), I thought it was the right decision to choose Maxis since I don't have to fork out another RM14.9 monthly for Spotify.
During the phone call, I asked if there's any limitations or contract for the package and Spotify, I was briefed there was none and this happened.

I've been a loyal Hotlink/ Maxis user since 2006 and these are the shits I have to deal with. SMH.

Maxis, if you're seeing this, I'm switching to Celcom (or perhaps any suggestions, people of LYN?), and if you(Maxis) wants to retain this customer, drop me a call at 017-9222369

They didn't cancel it, per se.

They're saying the promo period ended.

Personally, I think they didn't want renew a contract that they've had with Spotify for a while now.

Which is really stupid, because they're going to lose many, many customers.

And yup, I too only stayed on for the service. Now it's pretty pointless and I'm considering going back to Celcom as reception has improved and it's cheaper.

Technically yes, and yea I stayed mostly for Spotify since the free subscription and streaming isn't counted in the quota. Time to move on.

This is a classic bait and switch. Bait customers with Spotify, then after awhile, end the service because they think they've secured the subscription. I don't think so Maxis... I don't think so.

Actually i read the fine print when I switched to Maxis one Plan 98 and it does mention that the subscription will only last till end of September 2016. But I am not sure if it means the free data for Spotify or the Spotify subscription itself.

I too got a weird message saying that my spotify account will be renewed. Seriously by sending this kind of cryptic message and they expect me to know what's going on?

I won't leave maxis just yet cause i actually like Spotify a lot. Will hang on to it since nothing is free.

Food for thought to those who are unaware.

Also, I only recently moved to Maxis and was informed by agents that Spotify premium has seize to exist as the promo is over. I dont think they are doing things behind your back, but they definitely have informed people on it, just maybe a better elaboration would be better.

I suppose the best way is to contact Maxis directly. I always tweet to them at @MaxisListens (so much for listening to the customers)

News update this morning: Maxis Lost 203k Subs last quarter
