My Taman has no coverage for Fibre because no laying was done when developer was developing the area, and I don't think TM is going to come anytime soon.. Meaning there'd be no Unifi or any fast internet for todays standards.

I'm thinking of going to TM to enquire personally because one occasion over the phone they told me they couldn't contact the developer as the sole representative for the housing area. Since they only need a representative I think I'm able to represent as long as I have the approval from the residents, correct me if I'm wrong.

Is this recommendable? I'm unsure of the process and whether we need to pay for the laying down of cables. Does anyone have any advice to share or any information for me to indulge in? A search online on how-to for fibre coverage led me to Singapore having an online platform Open Net to check and see if the residents are eligible for installation of fibre optic cables but I can't find anything on this in Malaysia.

Side note, does anyone know what happened to MyRepublic SG when they announced (http://www.soyacincau.com/2015/10/30/can-myrepublic-offer-cheaper-100mbps-broadband-in-malaysia/) they might be entering Malaysia market soon?

Maybe your Taman has Rukun Tetangga or something? Try make an official application letter to TM or other fibre optic provider and sign by RT representative.

If there's enough demand and cost effective, maybe TM will consider to laying their cable.

Aww.... the cost for one house is already more than RM 10000, the cost for all of the houses are too expensive. Maybe you can ask TM to cover your area and force them on CFM forum. If you cant wait for years, then you have to pay them the cost to install fiber optic cable.

My Taman local representatives quite the weird bunch, as though I'm the only one unable to live with this horrible speed. They don't see the need to enquire, end up I fed up so I plan on doing myself. If can get authority as the representative and do it myself, better for everyone. Wanna load lowyat page and forum also take so long.

Quite a lot. Gated 2 areas, occupying houses also around 3/4. Very damn sure got no cables in the other area as well. If want estimate I need to ask the local reps.

Just got a quotation for my company. 200m fiber cabling from nearest distribution point costs us almost rm6k

Ask for TM AND help... They will put your house in their future plan... The best part you might get a new cabinet only for your place...

By the way, if the demand for the service is high, then very likely it can be done.
If demand is low, then the otherwise as cost is a factor.

Nevertheless, other options like wireless connections can be looked at too but depending on area of course.

Hello. I've sent in a request for my Taman before, and when I got a response from them their reason for not being able to follow up on my enquiry was because they couldn't contact the developer.. Hence my question and my post! Personally handling from my end -> TM, I hope to find some more time when I'm free so that I can meet up with TM.. Went and had no luck because manager not in..

PM-ed location. Would you mind explaining from your end how one might manage to accomplish a feat such as this? I have roughly 500 houses on estimate with 3/4 of them occupied if I include both areas in my Taman. I hope you don't mind furnishing me with details.

So.. bringing an update. Had confirmation that laying would be done in August 2017, ETA by November 2017. However December came and work was halfway done (left laying the physical cables above ground since digging and routing from main hub done). When I sent in a formal inquiry TM gave zero, ZERO indication that they had any knowledge on the progress, much less whether the project existed in the first place.

I then pulled MCMC into the picture and TM at first tried to close the case on me, but I provided proof of work and the project's existence to MCMC and they pressured TM to contact me directly to clarify exactly what is going on.

Very efficiently my inquiry that took a week to respond from TM suddenly became a half-day wait per update. In the end, I was given assurance that the project indeed is still active and that my area would be getting coverage in the second half of 2018.. or so they claim.

Fast forward two months today, I have an update on the current situation, is that the main contractor that TM contracted the job to lay the infrastructure had sub-contracted another contractor to do the laying and that that sub-con had absconded from the job altogether after doing it halfway.. effectively running away and leaving whatever work they've done behind.

Main contractor wants to wash their hands off of this, but MCMC's not having any of it. Finally, from what I've been updated from my management's office (since they're the one with the updates from relevant parties) TM's hauled the main contractor to court. So much for having high hopes..

Go press the doorbell and ask the owner about it. However, you have to bare for the cost of buying the equipment. You can discuss with any house owner with UniFi but recommended distance is better not to be too far away from your house. Maybe 500m maximum.

hi mztang52! whoa.. to literally knock on someone's door and ask for a connection. what if my whole taman is isolated by a kilometer from the highway, and another kilometer from the next covered area? i guess i'll have to look for another alternative..
