there is no sure way to 100% prevent the pick pocket from happening unfortunately. Just take extra precautions and should be ok
and break your cash separately into diff areas. You may keep some cash in your luggage in the hotel.
As for passport, so far no police stop and want to check my passport. Only need to shown my passport in 2 occasions: when buying rabbit card in bts train station and enter one of the night club.
.it is up to you whether u want to bring your passport alone when you are on the street.
