I am going to Bangkok 10 Aug. Plan to rent a car and drive to Khao Yai. Anyone can share experience and suggestions?
Do I need to apply International Driver Permit (IDP)? Is it safe to drive in Khao Yai? I saw many small road from Google map. |

QUOTE(drbone @ Jul 24 2019, 04:47 PM) With that budget, you can get nearly all the hotel in the Pratunam area. I recommend The Berkeley Hotel.QUOTE(royang @ Jul 27 2019, 09:26 AM) I am going to Bangkok 10 Aug. Plan to rent a car and drive to Khao Yai. Anyone can share experience and suggestions? I plan to drive to Khao Yai 3 years ago but didn't make it because our trip was kinda rush due to my wife is shopping non-stop. Wasted too many days on shopping and night markets.Do I need to apply International Driver Permit (IDP)? Is it safe to drive in Khao Yai? I saw many small road from Google map. You don't need an international driving license. You need to use your passport to book the car online. They can even arrange to deliver the car to you at the airport or your hotel. Or you can go to their office to collect your car. If you feel uncomfortable to drive by yourself, you can even call Grab or take a van to Khao Yai. Usually, if you rent your car from the big car rental company, they will provide you the numbers to call in case of an emergency. If our car breakdown..don't know can get help easily or not....especially at night. |

QUOTE(royang @ Jul 27 2019, 09:39 AM) Many roads in Khoa Yai are small and one way. I drove all the way from KL to Khao Yai last year. I was my 2nd time driving from KL. If our car breakdown..don't know can get help easily or not....especially at night. I totally have no issue driving around in Thailand. Just make sure you have phone and mobile data. Only thing is difficult for me to pump gasoline around khao yai. Gasohol is easy. My recommendation for you is the international license is not expensive. Just go JPJ and apply it for a trouble free holiday. This post has been edited by zDarkForceSz: Aug 6 2019, 12:45 PM |

Also, in Pratunam area you can find a halal tomyam stall named Paa Nga Tom Yum. 3.) You can go to MBK, Platinum Fashion Mall, Big C, The Market or Terminal 21. 4.) Take BTS line to a station called Saphan Taksin and walk to Sathorn Pier (less than 5 minutes). You will see people selling ticket there. |
