Hi guys. Planning on traveling to Osaka from 30th Nov till 6 Dec. Travelling with wife, 3 year old son and 3month daughter. My plan is basically to get the Osaka amazing 2 day pass to cover most of the tourist attractions in Osaka. Will go to the aquarium and maybe the legoland and also the Santa Maria cruise for my boy.

Would also like to visit Kyoto and Kobe. Might stay a night in Kyoto itself. Last day of the trip will be spending night near the Kansai airport for rinku outlet shopping.

What do you guys think, upon arrival in Kansai, should I go straight to Kyoto and spend a night there before go to Osaka? Is it cost effective and efficient rather then start my trip from Osaka then to Kyoto and back to Osaka?

One more thing, do 3 year old kid need to pay for the public transport in Japan? Thanks.
*
Advise to stay at Osaka then traveling to Aquarium and Legoland..as this area are nearby. Stay Osaka 2 night are recommended.. ,if you planning to visit Kobe for Day Trips ...Only 30 minutes by train from Osaka to Kobe..recommended visit to Habourland ,Kobe..Here also have Kawasaki Museum and Kobe Tower...After Kobe ,then move to Kyoto .Recommended to 2-3 night to spend here..then move to Nara for Day Trips then overnight at Rinkku nearby Kansai Airport...shopping at Rinku Premium Outlet..

3 Year old kids are Free of Charge for train. For buses, you need to pay the fare.

Thanks. Kawasaki museum sounds nice. 1 day should be enough to cover Kobe right? Anyway have booked airbnb for 4 days in Osaka. I noticed the accommodation in Kyoto is quite expensive compare to Osaka. Was looking at the traditional Japanese room for stay in Kyoto. Even normal room is expensive. Maybe quite close to my travel date d hence the price.
*
Yes,correct..seem you bring kids...I also recommend you. Anpanman Children Museum ...located at Kobe Harborland. Its walking distance from Kawasaki Museum.

Your traveling with family ,are little bit expensive compare couple . Last year, I stay at Osaka..its cost me ¥25,000 per room per night ( 3 Adult with 2 Kids )...This year i went to Matsumoto..overnight at Richmod Hotel ,its cost me ¥23,000 per night 2 adult and 2 kids. All walk in direct with out booking...

You can book with Booking.com...might get cheapest room on that day.

Kyoto its Tourist Attraction spot,no wonder most hotel and rooms are bit expensive .

Most of Hotel price are getting expensive now days...compared 2-3 year ago.

what would you recommend? was planning a 10 days - 2weeks and cover tokyo, osaka and kyoto hmm.gif
*
3 Night Osaka + Kobe

Osaka - Dottonbori | Osaka Aquarium | Osaka Castle | USJ Osaka
Kobe - Harborland | Kawasaki Museum | Kobe Beef ...If you muslim..you can visit Kobe Mosque

3 Night Kyoto

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2158.html

3 Night Tokyo

http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2164.html

10 days its not enough to cover all trips. Its advise you to select which places have higher tourist attraction spot.Study first and plan your budget wisely.

Last month,my friend visit Kobe and have lunch with me..complaint for 1 Briyani Rice cost RM80 per meals. doh.gif This Japan maa..nothing is cheaper and free..If japan are too expensive... Bangla are the best to visit la.. laugh.gif

I will be going early dec. Please share your experience driving on the winter icy road and also which company car rental u took...

arigatooooo
*
All company car rental have winter tire. Not all Hokkaido have snowing during that period. Unless you traveling nearby mountain ..example Niseko ,Rususut..Asahikawa ,Furano...

For Winter ,January and February are the best time to visit Hokkaido.

During winter, highly advise 100% caution for speeding..example High way, recommended 80km..or less..Follow speed limit ..example 50 Km..cannot exceed the limit. Do not too closed in front of your car. Make gap around 10 meter.

yeah.. along our journey.. sapporo, wakkanai and shiretoko stop snowing already but asahikawa, otaru and sounkyo and along the journey to all places all heavily snow already. we drove at night also but actually a bit dangerous leh.

and its very cold.. shop more at secondhand shop. hahahah
*
When snowing, its really cold and freezing. Its dangerous to drive car during night or early morning...because on days..little bit warm..and night ,temperature will drop and its too freezing...Ice bump. 7 years are enough for me to stay in Hokkaido.. smile.gif

*
I'm planning the usual route on central hokkaido..
new chitose - noboribetsu - lake toya - niseko - otaru - sapporo - back airport chitose.
6 days.

I would think driving is still the best way to visit all these places.
What would you recommend ??

Highly recommend you to visit Hakkodate..you can take trains from Chitose to Noboribetsu..overnight for Onsen..then take trains to Hakkodate...either you can rental car from Hakkodate ,then start traveling to Toya Lake...Niseko..Otaru..Sapporo..then back to Chitose...

Concern is not so much on environmental radioactive readings but contaminated seafood (possible consumption of small amount of radioactive materials and long term consequences). If you can debunk the contaminated food myth, I will be very happy. biggrin.gif
*
Japanese highly concern about environmental radioactive..About Fukushima,Most farming area contaminated ,they will banned all product such rice grain . Heavy checked by local authority about this matter . Most of Salmon fish are imported from Scandinavian Country such Sweden . Lots of fish coming from Hokkaido ,Amori dan Nihon Kai.

If we talking about contaminated food myth In Japan, most Japanese people are more transparent compare Malaysian.

If you think Japan have bad environmental radioactive. Then you should travel other country. Much more safe and better long life..

Dear all sifus (especially RC), I'm planning to go Hokkaido on next year early May (rough date should be 4/5 - 13/5), for 2 person (wife). I have done a simple and rough itinerary, hope to get advise from all sifus here.

D1: Fly from KLIA 2 (night)
D2: Arrive CTS (morning), go to Hakodate (overnight)
D3: Hakodate (overnight)
D4: Go to Noboribetsu (overnight)
D5: Go to Lake Toya (overnight)
D6: Go to Otaru (overnight)
D7: Go to Asahikawa (overnight)
D8: Go to Biei, Furano, Sapporo (overnight)
D9: Sapporo (overnight)
D10: Fly back KLIA (morning)

Do you think my itinerary is ok? Is it Sapporo too less day spending? Should I set Sapporo as first few days or last few days? My main travel is onsen, food, and sakura and shibazakura.
*
Hakkodate - Recommended to Hakkodate Yama for night view..try Kugira Burger ( Whale Burger )

Avoid Otaru for overnight..spend for Day Trip are recommended..stay at Sapporo.Recommended from 1.00pm until sunset..then take photos at canal during sun set..its best moments.

For food at Sapporo..you may try food at Daimaru..nearby Sapporo Eki..highly recommended Kinotoya Bake for Cheese Tart..otherwise you can try Lunch Buffet and Dinner Buffet at Daimaru..Or you can try Ika Meshi ( Sticky Rice Squid ).

Hi Ladies,

Just a question to those ladies who have experienced the onsen in Noboribetsu. I just booked a hotel in Noboribetsu for the CNY eve, and my 2 teen daughters found out from their classmates that all have to be naked (only a piece of hand towel allowed) in the public female onsen.

Both of them are very uncomfortable and shy now .... May I ask, is  that the real situation for all public onsen in Japan?
*
Yes,its normal to naked ,when you in Public Onsen.. tongue.gif .If you think weird, then better not go.Last October went to Gero Onsen at Gifu...Its first time for me..since almost 9 year ago..was last time been to onsen..When i enter the onsen...eveybody look at me..I also don't know why..but i assume..i have towel cover my angry bird ...then i continue as normally .. laugh.gif
