I brought 150k yen for 10 days of staying for budget travel. We can't tell you how much to bring. It depends on what you want to eat, where you will be staying, what do you want to see, how far is your journey, what you want to buy.

Dear all sifus (especially RC), I'm planning to go Hokkaido on next year early May (rough date should be 4/5 - 13/5), for 2 person (wife). I have done a simple and rough itinerary, hope to get advise from all sifus here.

D1: Fly from KLIA 2 (night)
D2: Arrive CTS (morning), go to Hakodate (overnight)
D3: Hakodate (overnight)
D4: Go to Noboribetsu (overnight)
D5: Go to Lake Toya (overnight)
D6: Go to Otaru (overnight)
D7: Go to Asahikawa (overnight)
D8: Go to Biei, Furano, Sapporo (overnight)
D9: Sapporo (overnight)
D10: Fly back KLIA (morning)

Do you think my itinerary is ok? Is it Sapporo too less day spending? Should I set Sapporo as first few days or last few days? My main travel is onsen, food, and sakura and shibazakura.

Hakkodate - Recommended to Hakkodate Yama for night view..try Kugira Burger ( Whale Burger )

Avoid Otaru for overnight..spend for Day Trip are recommended..stay at Sapporo.Recommended from 1.00pm until sunset..then take photos at canal during sun set..its best moments.

For food at Sapporo..you may try food at Daimaru..nearby Sapporo Eki..highly recommended Kinotoya Bake for Cheese Tart..otherwise you can try Lunch Buffet and Dinner Buffet at Daimaru..Or you can try Ika Meshi ( Sticky Rice Squid ).

Hi guys, i will going during end of may/early june to osaka/kyoto/kobe/nara. Im reading up on the different type of transport and it got me so confused with the different subway line.

It will be nice if anyone has experience on which line to take to major spots and which card is the best to be used.

Thanks in advance, guys

May I have some advice? I will be traveling to Osaka for ~3 weeks, and I need internet along the journey. Can I get the internet local sim card at airport? I heard that portable wifi is the only option for foreigner. Is that correct?

That's my homework tonight. Just spent few hours studied should I take train or driving. It seems like I can try to drive on outside from sapporo, and return car when reach sapporo, then use train. Is it correct? But I can't find how difference compare to take train and self drive in term of money saving. Which way can save more money? I checked the JR PASS it's 26,000 YEN?

I’m planning of buying the Surutto Kansai 2 Day Ticket and Kansai Wide Area for my trip later.

Here are my latest plan
D1-Arrive KIX *Night
D2-Osaka
D3-KYOTO (Kansai Thru Pass 2 day tix)
D4-Nara (Kansai Thru Pass 2 day tix)
D5-Kobe (Kansai Wide Area Pass)
D6-Arashiyama (Kansai Wide Area Pass)
D7-Kinosaki Onsen (Kansai Wide Area Pass)
D8-?? Undecided between Mt. Koya or Wakayama (Kansai Wide Area Pass)
D9-Last day, Night Flight

Is it feasible or worth for me to buy passes? Kindly recommend which are more suitable. Do recommend any places that i should go to as well, im still undecided on what to do on Day 8.

Thank you in advance!

Maybe I try to help since I notice no one reply to you ... check the cost of the train tickets (basic fare + limited express)
http://www.hyperdia.com/en/

https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/

Also, I suggest you stay at Osaka for the last night (or the last few days), so you can do final shopping and pack the bags, rather than carry the stuff you buy at Osaka on arrival, all over Kansai area.

e.g.
D1/2 - ICOCA & Haruka package one way to Kyoto (2000 + 1600) = 3600 yen. Buy at JR Kansai office, now got Hello Kitty edition.
D3-4 Check train cost to Nara. Else get Kansai Thru Pass 2 days.
D5-9 - use the Kansai Wide Area Pass

The Wide Pass is 8500 yen book online, which you can buy in KL for RM340 in Nov'16. Bring receipt and claim the ticket at JR Kansai office. You need to plan well, as JR will print the ticket with the dates for the 5 days.

Also, the Wide Pass is inclusive of Shinkansen, manage to ride the Nozomi 700.

Since the pass is expensive, why not choose further distance to explore ? e.g. Himeji took 27 minutes using Shinkansen, while rapid train will take ~60+ minutes.
Next trip, then only stay in Osaka/Kyoto for shopping and don't wander out.

Kinosaki Onsen is the furthest, there is single train going direct without the need to change train or carry luggage around (e.g. Fukuchiyama). Check the timetable Kyoto-Kinosaki (3 trains per day) or Osaka-Kinosaki.

I would recommend going in a loop such as KIX - Kyoto (Nara) - Kinosaki direct - Himeji - Kobe - Osaka (day trip to Wakayama. Or you can even stay in Osaka and take day train to Himeji, Kobe & Wakayama for half-day, then come back to Osaka for shopping and meals in evening/night.

ICOCA you can imagine like HK Octopus or SG EZLink, can use in a lot of places, trains, convenience store, departmental store food stalls, restaurant, etc. So you don't get pocket full of 1/5/10 yen coins.

I can't help you if you still have't decide driving or taking public transport.
Drive faster and more extra time on sightseeing spot.
Public transport will be time limited.

seriously, pls do ur own calculation
we do not know where u planned to go
eg place that accessible by public transport (eg train/bus)
or places that u need own transportation

driving, don't forget u need to include
petrol, toll, insurances, parking, saman brows.gif

from my experiences if u hv 4ppls to share ur cost, driving totally worth it
