anyone can translate what this meant??
"握り1貫、巻物1本よりご注文を承ります"...saw it on a sushi website but google translate makes no sense
*
Hii I think it says you need to order at least one nigiri (sushi) and makimono (sushi) as their minimum requirement for orders

From what you say I think you are more of the "unplanned traveller" type, if there is such a word. smile.gif Another way to do it is to take a local train from Tokyo to Kyoto and stop by along the way. However this needs a lot of planning on the transport and hotel as you need to know all the train connections but you will find surprises along the way. I did that during my younger years during winter and it was really fun
*
Probably yes. Everytime I went for solo travel I didn't really plan much, except research their methods of transportation and some hostels and lodges and prepare enough money.

I have a few spots in mind for Japan. Mainly... Furano, Kamui Misaki, Tokyo Tower, Shibuya, Akiba, Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari, Miyajima, Nara... some castles, temples... after covering these places the remaining of my time are probably in cafes or just wandering around their streets.

Just happy that it's possible to cover Kyoto, Tokyo, Hokkaido, Hiroshima in 3-4 weeks. Don't really like rushing. Once I bought my air ticket and planned my itineraries will come here for advice again tongue.gif

refer to page 1 and 2, there are people sharing their journey to hokkaido, for tokyo wise, you will have to go to http://en.japantravel.com/ to plan your own

My advice
Prepare yourself first before ask for any reference here

Tips for cheapest wifi you'll ever get.
Rm6/day
Check out this app KLOOK and search for japan wifi.. dont pick the wrong one.. 3gb/5days. Rm30 only.. by softbank.
Coverage is very good.. and if you're registering use this voucher you'll get rm14 discount.

ENJOY YOUR TRIP! JAPAN IS TRULY AMAZING! haha

just came back from my osaka trip
I did not open the tax free sealed bag/i just checked in all the items
At the customs counter, i just drop off all the tax free form or the officer can help you to remove

Portable wifi device is very useful (i got mine for free with the ANA Ninjawifi 4 day free promo)

hi.. I'm currently in Tokyo and didn't bring my printed shopping area which I did some research before this trip.

May I know where to get cheap cosmetics(美妆).. I realised all the Pharmacy are selling diff price. And I can't seems to find the list in page 1(which I did my homework before this version 9.5)

On the other hand the autumn leafs are still slll beautiful in Kawaguchiko!!!
*
Those pharmacy price are really 'interesting'
different pharmacy different item is cheap, somemore same pharmacy brand different branch can have different pricing.
so i end up surveying few stores along the shopping street before deciding on a store that gives the best price

Yo guys. I will be travelling to Osaka/Hokkaido from 6th Dec to 16th Dec this year (Tickets bought - ANA). The following is my planned itinerary, would love to get some input from fellow experts here.

6th to 7th - Osaka (Mainly city, USJ)
8th to 10th - Arrival at New Chitose, depart for Niseko. Beginner 1st timer ski class at Hirafu. Accomodation at Hirafu.
10th to 12th - Hakodate
12th to 13th - Noboribetsu Onsen Hotel
13th to 16th - Mainly Sapporo, Otaru on 14th. Accomodation at Sapporo.

Theres a few things i would like fellow sifus opinion.

1. Any cost effective ways to travel from Niseko-Hakodate and Hakodate-Noboribetsu? As one way JR would cost approx 7000JPY. I was told thats the best way to travel as there will be no coach buses during winter for those routes? I have looked out at chuo bus website but so far no such route yet. Will driving be an option in winter? Eg. Rent a car from Niseko, drive down to Hakodate and return at Hakodate?

2. If at all we were to plan for a visit to a zoo with penguin parade, will Maruyama zoo be better? Or more worth it to travel to Arashiyama zoo?

3. Any suggestions for cost effective travel/transportation passes to recommend in the areas i am travelling to?

4. I know this is a very noob question but can we wear sportshoes in winter? Or must it be a boot?

Thanks and regards!
*
3. for Osaka you can get the Osaka Amazing Pass for 2300 yen (include private line like Nankai,Hankyu,Hanshin, etc) 1 day or 2900 yen (do not include private line only subway) for 2 day. With the pass you can visit places like Umeda Sky building observatory (usually 1000 yen), ride on one of the world largest ferris wheel (Tempozan Ferris Wheel) think its 700-800 yen, visit Tsutenkaku Tower (500 yen), boat ride, visit Osaka Castle Musuem (all included in the pass dont need to pay extra)
