Hi I have tried to Google this but am unable to find an answer, so I thought I would post it here. confused.gif

I noticed that my network adapter is not detected any longer upon booting up. Its an on board Qualcomm Atheros AR9002WB-1NG.
Warranty expired ages ago - this is not a new machine.

The only way to get it to work is to uninstall and reinstall the network adapter each time. Only then it will work. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Device manager says the device is working properly, and there are no new drivers
.
My notebook is an ASUS w/a i5-2410M processor, running Win 7.

Would appreciate it if someone could advise on a fix, thanks so much in advance ! notworthy.gif

I have similar issues with my wireless adapter. Sent it to a shop and they just open up and do cleaning, saying my laptop inside is dusty. after that all working fine.

Try install previous version of driver & see how it goes...

That's sign of its end-of-life.
Cheaper - disable it & get USB wifi dongle.
Expensive & neat - replace it with new parts.

Thanks all. Will send it for servicing.
BTW I have a old Huawei 1550 - have unlocked it to accept any SIMcard, but for some reason or the other, I cannot use it as a USB wifi dongle.

Any ideas why ?

Thanks

Usually the wifi card contact points are the culprit. Its like ram type contacts. Just a simple cleaning of the wifi card contact should do the trick. But disassemble of the notebook is another matter. Some are easily accessible from just the back panel. Some complete disassembly. Faulty cards are rare.

Also your Huawei 3G modem i presume? Its primary function is to provide internet service and also access point. It cannot act as a Wi-Fi receiver from what i know of.
