First, u need to understand the HSBB network is build based on Private Public Partnership.
It is either our government doesn't have enough money or doesn't want to spend too much money on the connection infra. So they go PPP.

As a return ,the 'wise' government giving permission to TM to control the HSBB network since TM who forks the money much.

Imagine if the infra cost is bare 100% by the government,then gov open to all telcos with some fee,then maybe we can have more competitive pricing.But that is not the case today.

Like I said before,TM is a GLC.Of coz government want to prioritize its linked company first.

For VDSL,some premise do support until 50Mbps,but this one need extra checking first at TM side.

-not receiving any free upgrade before within this year (pay the same price but increase speed)
-is subscribed to VIP 5/10/20 or UniFi 30/50 (whatever the variants)
-the area can support the new upgrade speed
-not under special scheme when buying a new home with UniFi ready
-not a business customer
-no contract refresh
-existing UniFi 50 to 100 only may or may not need to change their CPE (BTU and RG) with no charges.


So they will have a list of eligible customers and these customers will be contacted in stages if interested or not in proceeding with the free upgrade.You will be contacted via email,telephone or SMS.

so my analysis is correct only decrease in price per Mb not packages for the year 2017.so no major decrease in revenue only lost of opportunity for TM.

UniFi 30 got less than double but cheaper price.

This upgrade exercise is so confusing.

Currently, not all customers are enjoying the same price under same speed.

There will be the scenario where your new upgrade package is cheaper ,same price or expensive than your previous one.

If cheaper good for the customer,if more expensive how ?

The price in the faq for the 100 is base price without hypptv pack while 30 and 50 are with pack.so mostly just an error in their faq.should be 329 (299+30).

Let me put it this way after reading the F@Q

Your concern is valid.

They shouldn't put the previous version of the F@Q and replace with this one thus creating a perspective that this free speed upgrade exercise is only open to anyone who buys UniFi during this campaign period only.

If it is true it will contradict what have been told to the media and investment analyst before.LOL

I still believe it should be this way,the free speed upgrade is still open to all existing UniFi since day 1 that meet certain criteria, not just for a new customer who buys this current promo.

This current promo just wants to encourage people to buy their plan before the free upgrade exercise begin, therefore, they will get double the speed without increase of fee next year.

plot twist: since I also didn't get any SMS/email/phone call for the mysterious gift....does this means anyone who got the mysterious gift somehow doesn't qualify for the free upgrade due to certain constraints?

I am fully FTTH and i am quite confident I will get the upgrade.

I think anyone who doesn't get the email/sms,don't terminate your UniFi yet and replace it with RM179 promo.
