There's no official word within them internally so maybe that's why they wouldn't dare to say anything. Plus if they said anything then suddenly corporate decision change, you can say the TM Point personnel behind the counter is lying but actually he/she is only following orders, not the ones at the top lvl of the conglomerate.

Your concern is valid.

They shouldn't put the previous version of the F@Q and replace with this one thus creating a perspective that this free speed upgrade exercise is only open to anyone who buys UniFi during this campaign period only.

If it is true it will contradict what have been told to the media and investment analyst before.LOL

I still believe it should be this way,the free speed upgrade is still open to all existing UniFi since day 1 that meet certain criteria, not just for a new customer who buys this current promo.

This current promo just wants to encourage people to buy their plan before the free upgrade exercise begin, therefore, they will get double the speed without increase of fee next year.

It is just a CAMPAIGN to get new UNIFI subscribers to sign up before 31st December 2016 to be eligible for a free upgrade.

It doesn't affect EXISTING UNIFI subscribers who are eligible for a free upgrade specified under Budget 2017. They are STILL eligible.

the speed upgrade thing very confusing. Why they still need to ask the customers permission to upgrade their speed? Price remain same and the package will be better with no contract also. No need ask customers just do it can already 1.

Possibly because not all lines can support faster connection like high rise buildings. Need some control method over this matter

This reason is valid but TM is the one should know what kind of lines subscribedby users are capable for the upgrade and then do the upgrading exercise automatically instead want to get consent from users.

so...unifi package must be installed by 31st Dec 2016 to be eligible for free upgrade in 2017 ?

Or....as long as received the sms / email confirmation that will get free upgrade regardless when is the installation ?

OT: LTE speed and all, I cannot testify because I didn't buy their local prepaid here. I always buy local SIM whenever I'm on business trip but this $30 starter pack just doesn't make sense. I decided not to. I hope it should be OK here since that's our company's core business. Luckily, the free 30-minute WiFi that can be accessed from public area is pretty handy at times.

Road, not bad ah. Maybe because I'm in Bandar Seri Begawan, looks fine to me. No potholes.

Internet speed wise, it is already so slow in the office I'm not sure about residential area and all.


Back to topic, I still haven't got any SMS or email. Angry but nothing much can be done at the moment.

i called and they say no free upgrade, just wait announcement. my place also got no 8mbps, 4 is the max. they say too far from main exchange. then they say for streamyx only 100000 people will get free upgrade.

since TM did a speed upgrade of VIP5 to 10mbps even way before our dear leader najib announce the speed upgrade.

we should fall under that category of update isn't it? TM did it by they own and now dear leader say should have upgrade for all.

yeap...you're right, i read the news on 100000 people will get free upgrade. i seriously doubt i am one of the 100000 ppl...hence i registered for 30Mbps just to be safe

just to check...for landed houses, most users here opt for internal cabling or ceiling cabling for inside premise ?

im gonna opt next week for ceiling since single storey house.

Of course they can't and don't know how to explain. Unless this is the first time one is using TM service, if not, by now one should have knew that this is TM's infamous "SOP". Anything new that come out from them, they would never explain it in details and they never will respond professionally to the customers' enquiry. At the end, we the end users always have to figure it out by ourselves. Some times we even need to correct and teach those CS & front desk on the spot.

For example, when TM was establishing the new Unifi advance plan back in June/July 2015, did they announce it to the publics? Hell no. In fact, we discovered about the new plan in this very forum, via various public mass media platform. So we went to ask TM, and became the very first group to grab the new plan. When TM finally announced the new plan to the medias in Aug/Sept 2015, they gave RM20 discount to the early birds, while we the super early birds got nothing. At the end, we found out that we could go to TM point and apply for such discount. Again, where did we get such information? TM's announcement? Nope. We knew about it through the words of mouth of the brothers and sisters in here.

Believe it or not, most of the time media reports, even the strangers in the forum, are much more reliable than TM's PR department. LOL

I suggest you to wait for TM to set their new site up soon or later. So that you can check if your account is on their upgrade list.

Terminate your current UniFi, register for a new Advance 30 now and get free upgrade to Advance 50 next year
