QUOTE(destroyer @ Jan 29 2007, 05:43 PM) I'm interested in fender squier strat. It pricing around 400++ at my place. Wanna ask what picup should i change to make it sound like real fender and what is the price. What ever you do or not do it does sounds like a 'Fender Stratocaster' no matter what....Why...because the Squier, Craftman,SX whatever brand there is all will follow the exact(maybe not accurate but close) to a Fender Strat...So in terms of sound/tone character your future guitar will sound like a Fender.... In terms of accoustical tone or whatever tone (body, bla bla bla) they called it...it will be diffrent...Why you may ask?? Go buy a RM7k American Fender Stratocaster Standard then compare with your (gonna buy) Squier...will you smash you squier??? But i own a Strat copy buy Craftsman, Cort and an unknown China/Vietnam strat (scalloped) to be honest...if i dun buy an original made in USA Fender in my lifetime, i wont regret... But when 8k bonus arrived in my account....Bentley will the first shop i will go regardless of petrol station for fuel or cigarettes...muahahhahaha |

QUOTE(destroyer @ Jan 30 2007, 09:27 AM) both have different characteristic since les paul and strat are both diff design.it terms of quality, many said SX have a better build quality than squier. but of course, you get the brand name with squier. |

I tried the cheaper Teles from both companies and SX wins hands down. It's even cheaper than a Squier..

Yup, second what chapree posted. it terms of quality, many said SX have a better build quality than squier. but of course, you get the brand name with squier. You bring your Squier to a Fender shop and they will actually "layan" you to repair or service your Squier guitar because Squier is by Fender. but you won't get the same treatment with a SX guitar. Oh yea, SX over Squier guitar any day ! SX make superb guitars. This post has been edited by TheWhacker: Jan 30 2007, 08:07 PM |

thats why learn to service your own guitar.
one thing when comparing SX and Squier, of cos for beginners all they see is the price. but for the same material used, alder body etc, obviously only the Squier standard can be compared, which is close to about RM500 more (i think). there is no point comparing it with the Squier california or affinity. so in that respect, the Squier standard is a much better value. has way better electronics and pickups, proper individual pickup routing in body, tremolo. SX from some reviews i've read has a swimming pool rout, has very poor electronics. and if you were to upgrade, you will definitely spend close to RM400. both guitars will definitely need a good set-up, which is a very small matter. the advantage the Squier has tho, is that fender licensed parts like pickguards, replacement necks WILL fit. the SX are built just a little different in that market replacement parts sometimes will not fit without modification needed. |

greg bennett series bodies are laminated, and not solid 2-3 pieces.
thats why they can offer better hardware on them. |

SX are quite delicious for me (cheap guitar player).
Tho I once touched Squire before. Hey but the fret is nice. For me, I go for SX Les Paul copy. The white one |
