I'm driving a Proton Wira 1.5 GLi Sedan (AUTO) / Year 2000.

I have no problem at all with the temparature of the car when I'm diving normally in traffic jam, city or highway....
But, I have problem when i drive up to genting when i need rev quite high in every gear, and almost all low gear... I got a very high temparature reading....

I have DIY Clean and Flush my Radiator....
And, all water is clean and...
I have also added with coolant with 30/70 mixture....

I would like to try asking my machenic to wash the radiator...
But, wonder how they will wash the radiator?? Will they just wash using high pressure water or they will use some tiny dip to clean or clear all clog radiator???

QUESTIONS:
1. Will it be my Radiator clog / stuck???
2. How they clean radiator by machenic?? Using water?? or using dip??
3. How much does it cost to clean the radiator?? Any recommend??
4. What other advice would be??

Please advice....
Thank you very much....

1. how old is your radiator? Have you ever changed it before? If a few years old and if there was rust deposits before, most likely its clogged on some portion. You might want to check the thermostat and fan motor too to see if its working 100%.

2. usually flush with water until clean.

3. not sure for wira how much but maybe like the forumer said, RM80

4. buy new one if the new one cost is RM100++ but need to go to trusted mechanics. some will change for you but do a shoddy job like bad installation...leaking joints.....then when you have problem, they say you need to change piping, motor, fan, thermostat and whole load of BS.

clean by them means they will flush it, use some wires to dig the dirt out , fix back the radiator "bee nest" and repaint it.

well at least that wat the radiator shop did for me and my radiator temp stays half no matter wat condition + water only loss less than 1% per week

I also wanna wash it since New Wira 1.5 GLi Auto Radiator cost RM 240....
Normally, they will use wire / stick to clear all the clog / stuck water tunnel???
Or they just use high pressure water to pump it??
Pls advice.... thanks....

A PRO shop,

as the shop i did, the ppl there take my radia, use high pressure water to clean the radia then put in the water tank, and use wire to dig the dirt inside it. the pipes and other will use high pressure water to clean as it just get abit rust there, the important is the radia cleaning process, some shop just use pressure water to flush it.

termostat is a device to make the temp high faster and keep some power, it only deal abit lose power in climbing and longer time to heat up when u start engine at moring.

thermostats don't affect power. they just block the water flow when the engine is cold to help it start up faster. removing it is not recommended cos its bad to rev cold engines.
