QUOTE(KYPMbangi @ Oct 6 2016, 07:18 PM) So the LMS is ~70m ship with rm200mil/usd50mil price cap include weapons etc can always use gagah samudera design.ASM system maybe can scrap older Exocet/Otomat launcher from inventory weaponry prolly dun have to be too powderful. Just 30mm gun, couple of .50bmg at back, simbad SAM (barely) and Sea Venom ASM is enuf, but prob is that they also want to have mcmv variant |

QUOTE(KYPMbangi @ Oct 6 2016, 06:18 PM) So the LMS is ~70m ship with rm200mil/usd50mil price cap include weapons etc DSME can also do it with that price range using the corvette design which is almsot similar to the gagah samuderaASM system maybe can scrap older Exocet/Otomat launcher from inventory i think, if the navy want fast and cheap, might as well get from outside we dont have a steady production line here |

QUOTE Wednesday, 5 October 2016 | MYT 9:03 PM http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2016...de-and-replace/Hishammuddin: Nuri helicopters should be upgraded, replaced BY JUSTIN ZACK PETALING JAYA: The S-61A4 Nuri helicopters should be upgraded and replaced with newer assets to prevent accidents from occurring, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein. "I have reminded the top leadership in the Defence Ministry and the armed forces that there is no compromise when it comes to the safety of the personnel and preparedness of our military assets,” said Hishammuddin in a press release this Wednesday. On Tuesday morning, a Nuri helicopter crashed at SMK Balung in Tawau, injuring approximately 10 Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel and five students. "I agree and understand the public's opinion on the fact that the Nuri helicopters have been in service for a long time – since 1968 – and should be replaced with newer assets," said Hishammuddin. He added that he has instructed the RMAF chief to prepare action and upgrading plans for the Nuri. "I will be receiving a special briefing from the RMAF regarding the plans after my return from a working trip next week," said Hishammuddin. |

QUOTE(Dreadstar @ Oct 6 2016, 09:36 PM) at recent lima .. boustead did offer scaled down kedah class for lms. why didnt we go there. if we see the current kedah class.. it super packed with no room for substantial capability upgrade except for more peacetime patrol role.. though it should at least come with ASM capabilityit would be much cheaper because we already owned the meko design rite? or because gov didnt want boustead involving with another project till lcs complete? QUOTE(azriel @ Oct 6 2016, 09:44 PM) cakap saja.. NURI now transfer to PUTM |

![]() ![]() Dreary skies did not stop the defence chiefs from Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, the United Kingdom (UK) and Singapore from paying their respects to the fallen heroes of World War II at the Kranji War Memorial today. ![]() Contest Perut Siapa Besar The defence chiefs of the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) member nations – Singapore’s Chief Defence Force (CDF), Lieutenant-General (LG) Perry Lim, Australia’s CDF Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin, New Zealand’s CDF, LG Timothy Keating; the UK's Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, General (GEN) Sir Gordon Messenger, and Malaysia's CDF GEN Tan Sri Dato' Sri (Dr) Zulkifeli bin Mohd Zin - are in Singapore for the 17th FPDA Defence Chiefs' Conference (FDCC) and FPDA 45th anniversary celebrations from 4 to 6 Oct. The FDCC, chaired by LG Lim on 4 Oct, is hosted alternately by Malaysia and Singapore. It is the highest military professional forum of the FPDA, and serves as an important platform for dialogue and exchange of views among the defence chiefs. Describing the visit to the war memorial as "a meaningful one", LG Lim said: "This place is a symbol of our shared history, with Australia, New Zealand, UK and Malay regiments giving up their lives for the defence of Singapore and Malaya. And to think that so many soldiers fought and paid the ultimate sacrifice for the defence of Singapore and Malaya, this is indeed a very humbling experience." He added that the FPDA was a natural formation, formed out of this shared history, and that the member nations had made a commitment to bringing it forward from strength to strength. ![]() ![]() |

after Nuri's 18th crash in 2007.... someone did say the samething..will replace...will replace...
QUOTE July 14, 2007 15:58 PM Govt Plans To Replace Nuri Helicopters - Najib MUADZAM SHAH, July 14 (Bernama) -- The Government plans to replace Nuri helicopters from the fleet of aircraft of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today. Najib, who is also Defence Minister, however, said the phasing out was not possible in the near future. "Nuri helicopters are still air-worthy. Nevertheless, there are plans to replace them, but not immediately as they can still be used," he told reporters after attending a "leader-with-the-people" gathering. Najib was responding to reports that a Nuri helicopter, with six air force crew on board, was missing while flying from the Sungai Besi base here to the Gambang base in Pahang yesterday. The transport helicopter, carrying air force personnel to replace their colleagues at the base in Gambang, near Kuantan, lost contact with the air base control tower at 9.35am, 10 minutes after it took off from the Sungai Besi RMAF base. The Nuri was scheduled to reach its destination at 10.25am but failed to appear. Asked whether the services of Nuri helicopters would be suspended following the incident, Najib said it was up to the RMAF to decide. On the search and rescue operations to locate the helicopter, he said the ground and aerial search have been intensified. "As of noon, the search is still going on. The helicopter has not been found as the area is covered with thick forest," he added. The search was intensified at first light this morning, with three RMAF aircraft scouring the area around Genting Sempah, near Genting Highlands, where the helicopter last appeared on the radar. The police, Fire and Rescue Department personnel and 100 soldiers from the Bentong-based Royal Malay Regiment Camp have been deployed for the ground search. -- BERNAMA |

QUOTE(lk23 @ Oct 6 2016, 06:04 PM) A good plan. Needs good execution. Which is where we usually fail The Laksamanas are 30yo, they are indeed due for retirement. Operating costs will just get more and more expensive the older they are. But they are 4 of just 8 ASM-armed ships in TLDM, so we need to replace them with ships armed with ASM. Kongsberg NSM is a good choice. So is MICA VL for point defence SAM. Ideally we'll eventually have 12 Gowinds armed with Kongsberg NSM and the new NGPVs armed with MICA as well - it should be doable. It would also be best if we can stick 2 or 4 tubes of NSM on the NGPVs, but I'd be reeeaaallly happy just to have the full set of Gowinds. QUOTE(thpace @ Oct 6 2016, 09:59 PM) if we see the current kedah class.. it super packed with no room for substantial capability upgrade except for more peacetime patrol role.. though it should at least come with ASM capability Last time claim Kedah FFBNW ASM cakap saja..
