Interesting....so you don't actually get a PR.

You get a 9 mth job search visa, then a 2 year temporary visa, only then you get a PR.

Any requirements to retain the PR? Or once it is granted, it's valid for life?

After your last stage interview,  NZ Immigration will decide whether

1.Reject your application.
2.Job search visa - 9 months visa and you need to find a job
3.Resident visa - 2 years visa , you just need to settle and stay within NZ for 184 days per year.  There is no requirement for you to get a job for this outcome. Is more on survival and adapt to the new environment. Your spouse and kids within your application do no need to fullfill the 184 days requirement.
For item 3, once you fullfill the condition staying in NZ for 184 days per year for cons two years , you can apply for permanent resident visa which there is no expiry. This is the outcome I am hoping.

Ok, so depending on the strength of application, you could be offered a job search visa or a resident visa.

You mean to say that there's no residency requirements to main the PR? i.e. stay in NZ 2 out of 5 years etc?

Nope, once you get the permanent resident visa there is no travel condition.

"If you’ve been a resident visa holder for 2 years or more, and can show a commitment to living in New Zealand you can apply for a Permanent Resident Visa. Once granted, you can continue live and work in New Zealand permanently and come and go from New Zealand without travel conditions."

So you could technically stay outside the country for 10 years and be an absent permanent resident

Just knew about this, IELTS 6.5 for NZ application.

AU still remain 7 for IELTS.

is average 6.5 .. so basically your results does not need all band to be 6.5 n above... 6.5 6.5 6.5  6.0 pass as well unlike aussie u need all 7.0 minimum

if you can prove your english prof level you may not required to take ielts . i.e working in mnc and daily comm with aussie uk or nz clients..

but of course depends whether the nz authorities support your evidence.. there is some cases after interview they want you to sit for ielts

For a Msian growing up with Astro, Hitz FM, The Star in KL, 6 or 7 is nothing. You shouldn't even be allowing yourself to settle for 6 or 7. You need at least an 8 given the circumstances. Similarly for MUET, anything less than 5 is unacceptable if you grew up in a middle class family in KL.

This is an outrage when you consider the first ever English school in SEA is located in Penang. It predates both the foundation of Singapore and HK. There are also numerous Saint Blah blah Institutions throughout the country. In KL you have got SJI, MBS and VI. What those monkeys did to the country such that Msians have got to take the IELTS and be happy with a band 6 or 7 is frankly the most obscene thing that could be thought out.
