Hello, as the title, I really need help i choosing between these two. I am an engineering student and I use laptop for the usual programming and designing software and on the semester break I usually do light gaming. So as for the Asus I like the fact it has a full HD screen and f or the Vostro I like it because it has a backlit keyboard . I am actually leaning towards the Vostro for its spec, but the only thing keeping me off it is the fact that it does not have a FHD screen and I read some review and they said that the screen seems washed out, most probably bcs it uses a TN panel. So can anyone help me choose? Or is there any other suggestions? I prefer laptop that has FHD screen, backlit keyboard, don't need SSD as I prefer large storage since I don
t like carryinh my hard disk around , must be 14' as well as portable ( since I bring laptop to class everyday) and long battery life. My budget is around 2.5-3.5k. THanks biggrin.gif

Here's the spec ,

i) Dell Vostro V5459-50814G-W10 2980 Intel Core i7-6500U 8GB 1TB NVD GTX930M 4GB

ii) Asus K401U-QFR064T 2310 Intel Core i5-6200U 4GB D4 1TB NVD GT940M 2GB

Hi there, for the 14" laptops that have backlit keyboard that i know is as followed.

1. Dell Vostro 14 V5468-20412G-W10 Laptop/ Notebook (i5-7200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV 940MX, W10H) 1.59kg RM2,699.00 -/+
2. Asus K401U-QFR064T 14" Laptop/ Notebook (i5-6200U, 4GB, 1TB, NV GT940MX, W10H) 1.65kg RM2,599 -/+

You may wish to consider to upgrade the ram to at least 8gb for better multi-tasking experience.  biggrin.gif

Difficult choice. Buy vostro + external monitor or Asus + external keyboard. Both not very practical tho.

How about considering some older model like Dell inspiron 7447? But again, it is still 14" but kinda thick and quite heavy. Battery life also will be shorter since it is equipped with faster and more powerful quad core processor + GTX 850m.

Ouch cannot laa man, am only a student and I am gonna be bringing it to class everyday , and the reason I am looking for a new laptop is because I going to get rid of my 15.6' lappy and go for a smaller one. I only do casual gaming on semester break though, which is why FHD screen and backlit keyboard is what is more important for me bro. Haihz, I guess theres not many choice for a 14' laptop, the one that has perfect spec for me is either 13.3' (too small) or 15.6' (too big).

go for K401. I have the K501 its surprising very light.

15.6 on a 7559 like carrying a ton of bricks but on K501 that like 1.5kg only

Yeaaa K401 is my first choice rn, K501 is awesome bro seen a lot of reviews bout it already, and the fact that it has a backlit keyboard , perfection. Lel *sigh*

U can customize Dell latitude 7470 with 14 " fhd ips display along backlit keyboard, but the pricing will be at least double of dell v5459 or Asus k401
*
Price aside, would a business laptop be able to handle a little bit of gaming? I would like to play GTA5 though, I know K401 would be able to handle it though . How much is the 7470 though? I dont mind to topup a bit more if its worth it.

Edit: but oh u said double lel, max I can topup is until 4k lel, am a poorfag

If wanna buy new notebook better get with skylake processor its make huge difference on battery life and performance.

I used to have a 7447 and now i have a 7559 now.

If i have a choice i would go for 7559

Uhmmm sorry for being a noob, but what's a skylake processor? I only know a little bit about these things lol, and which laptop uses it? Must be pricey, no?
