If your car reach 800 km dy can send in for service now. No need wait.
Don't simply buy any coolant to add. Better ask SC.

The free-hanging hose is for overflow purposes.

How many miles ur car has travelling when notice the coolant level low? Mine same level with u after the miles nearly 10k.

According to SC, only use the Honda genuine coolant which already mix with water inside. Thus I purchase 1 bottle for spare.

Actually I already did 1k service 3 days ago and I feel that SC never top up the coolant for me..

When did you check the level? You should wait for the car to cool down or check in the morning before you start the car.

If below minimum line, yes need to top up a bit. No need buy additional coolant as not much, wasting money with so much leftovers, just fill in distilled water (aka battery water).

I check in morning before go out to work..

In Honda World, red isn’t just another color. The red Honda badge is reserved for only its highest level of performance vehicles known as Type R. Throughout decades of automaking, Honda has applied the R only to a select few cars, the NSX, the Integra, and the Civic being the most memorable. The Civic has had the longest run of them all, but there’s one major problem: It’s never been to America. The Integra Type R is the only one we’ve had, and that hasn’t been around since 2001. Thankfully, that’s about to change. After years of clamoring for more hot-hatch goodness, enthusiasts in the United States are finally getting the Honda they desire. At the Paris auto show last month, the Civic Type R prototype was unveiled in all its winged, scooped, and kitted glory. With all the attention surrounding the carbon fiber, the spoilers, the triple exhaust, and the 20-inch wheels, not many people seemed to take notice of the interior. A website called Leblogauto, however, managed to open the prototype’s doors and take some photos.

Go to Hingan Auto to buy the Honda coolant from them... Should be Honda Coolant Type 2 (blue color). Type 1 coolant is green color and without anti-freeze. Most new Hondas is using Type 2 coolant from factory.

Hingan Auto is authorized Honda Spareparts Stockist by Honda Malaysia. A bottle of coolant about RM20+ only... Cheaper than buying from SC.

SC will use tap water to top up the radiator for you. I saw before. Don't think SC will top up with coolant.

Please don't use any kind of water (mineral, RO, alkaline, etc...) in the radiator. Other waters have minerals in them. Can also lead to deposits and scale build up in the engine cooling system.

Only can use distilled water or coolant to top up. Last time those bottle of battery water was distilled water but now it's deionised water.

Only use other kinds of water when emergency and can't get distilled water or coolant...

The hose not connected to anything if for the coolant to flow out when overflow...

If the coolant level is in between Min and Max, it's still ok... Only when reach Min level then will need to top up.

I usually self top up to Max level and no need to worry...

oic
But no need to worry too much.
This is only the reserve tank where it captures excess coolant when the radiator is hot and release it back to the radiator when it cools down.
However, the manual will recommend the level to be between min & max lines.

If you still feel not right .. top it up yourself or drive back to SC (not sure they will entertain).
Or you can wait until next service but this time point this out first before service.

BUT if the level keeps going down, then there is a problem to be fixed. (Not trying to give false alarm here smile.gif )

I bought the coolant together with brake fluid & 4 liter engine oil after 1k service. Those spare oil I bring while travel from Penang to Muar as emergency case, it has been 3 months ago. If not mistaken it cost less than RM30.

Coolant will vaporize faster than normal if the technician did not follow the working procedure upon initially top up the coolant.

This happen to my previous new car Kia Forte 2.0, after driving about few weeks. Upon checking the coolant level on weekend , I surprise it drop below the min level. Send it to SC , they do refresh coolant and let the car idle for several minutes and make sure no bubble inside the tank. Luckily I encounter this issue early, if not it will cause the engine over heat.

Deionised water is the purest form of water you can get, no harm using this to top up. And after all, it is a small amount, won't upset the balance of the coolant mix, as these premix is already at 50:50 ratio. For our climate, can go as low as 30%, we just need the anti rust and lubricating properties from the coolant mix.

I'll stick to the Honda Coolant Type 2 to be safe... Since it's premixed with distilled water laugh.gif

Even though deionized is pure water also but it still has mineral and metal dissolved in it. It will reionize quickly in a loop and corrode long term.
