I'm also still scratching my head.

Its gonna be between note 7 lg v20 and the upcoming huawei mate 9.
Note 7 is my last choice for now though,  surprisingly.

Have owned s2, note 2,3 and 4. Skipped note 5 and dunno what to get now haha.

From Lowyat and Soyacincau post about replacement, mentioned free 1 year screen replacement and tempered glass but from their FB posting didnt mentioned about it. If their posting at their website also didn't mentioned. Am I missing something here?

yes, but they never said it was due to contaminant in the battery... or the controller board that is in the battery.

Just talked to Samsung Careline.
For those who already sent in their phone with box to sc and have yet to get an new replacement unit before the recall announcement, we are require to go to sc and collect the new replacement unit from 29th Sept onwards.

I sent in mine on 25th August. that's mean I'm gonna be note7-less for a whole month... haha

Some update from samsung live chat...

1) Warranty of new unit (replacement) will start from the date of new unit collection, and from the date of old unit. Which is good news. So basically we get extra 1.5 month warranty.

2) Screen protection issue for those already purchased earlier is KIV, further announcement will be made later on this.

I am from Note 3,4, and will definitely continue using N7. Totally it is different feel and quality.
I skipped Note 5 because of missing MicroSD slot.

N7 especially, the size is just nice onto my hand. Honestly, this is best Samsung I ever used.
No plan to jump to other phones although it has some bug here and there. Satisfy with the recall + compensation, plus the freebies was worth for money. This is just my personal opinion and feel.

I will hold on to note 7 and wait replacement, not charging to LG don't really like the design. For safety and avoid any shock surprise just turn off the phone good enuf. Don't scare ppl with 'switch off' time bomb la..

Those bought from telco(s), please allow them some time to figure this out. There should some process communication that will happen between SME and Telco in coming days. Yesterday news released, today certain people jumping and calling telcos and ask for update. I knew their reply would be "Refer to Samsung". It is still too early lah... still got 2weeks plus. Allow them some space.

on a side note (pun unintended)...

this recall and the compensation... scalpers would have sold the sets. but those who did not... extra benefit when selling... can now say it's 2 years warranty.

Nothing is impossible. May or May not. I feel the price will remain same fixed at RM3199.
If you wait 1year, you can get RM2099 from DirectD or SatuGadget. Kidding bro.

additional advice based on the videos posted by forummers:
1. as mentioned before, for those that are totally paranoid, keep your note7 that is not being used in a metal box to contain any fire/explosion. Or else, find out if you can return to the SC earlier

2. for those that are currently using the phone, my personal advice is not to charge the phone to max, maybe stop at 90%, the video noted that the worst case for the phone is overcharging which can cause dramatic effects even when comparing it to puncturing, bending or short circuiting, so best bet is to keep it undercharged slightly.

my 2c. kthxbai.
