Any V701 users that feedback about substantially increased noise after some usage can verify if their tires were flipped over during the left-right/right-left rotation?
The Yokohama installer I approached explained that because its directional pattern, many shops 'forgot' to remove and flip the tires if they change sides. I'm between an AE50 and this for a new set.

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 25 2019, 06:54 PM) I don't think tire shops are that stupid. I think that's just lame excuse from that Yokohama dealer. If I were you, forget about both those tires and better get either Hankook V12E2, Falken FK510, Michelin PS4, or Continental Extreme Contact Sport, depending on size availability and your budget only but all those are better choices. I'm avoiding tires that are known to have thin tire walls, so that puts the Hankook and Conti aside. Michelin would have been my default choice if it wasn't the high price, while I'm still bugged by 'old' Falken ST115's recommendations to be taken better care of (diligently balanced, rotated and aligned). Still, thanks for the recommendations. This post has been edited by Deja Vu: Jul 25 2019, 10:00 PM

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Jul 25 2019, 10:46 PM) Which Continental that you said have thin sidewall? I have used CSC3, CSC5, and now ECS and the sidewall held very well and actually quite strong. V12E2 does have a rather thin sidewall, I agree. PS4 is excellent but still has chipping issue if driven hard enough. FK510 has been receiving very good feedbacks in many reviews and I don't think it needs extra care more than any other tires. Performance wise, all those are surely better than V701 not to mention the lower level AE50. Chill down dude. The only Contis with my sizes (195/55r16 or 205/55r16) is the MC5, UC6 and CC6, all of which i have personally felt the thinness of their walls. FK510 does not start at 16" too. Anyway I purposely posted here in the v701 thread coz i've already decided between this 2 after doing my homework.
