Whoa what an awesome race! biggrin.gif  Again I just finished watching it from the recording and I was on the edge of my seat watching it, especially when the rain started to drop a again! The old dog still really can bite back and lucky for him not to get taken out by Zarco. For once, finally I got what I want very closely, would have been better if MM was 2nd but with MV crashing out that was the icing on the cake! Hence we have an extremely tight point standing at the top 4, just brilliant! laugh.gif

VR seems very happy with the updated chasis. MV I'm not sure because I think he doesn't have enough experience yet to run in those conditions. Even jl admitted he is not good in those conditions.

Well VR actually in general is pretty consistently competitive almost everywhere, but he's rarely the fastest on pure pace these days. MV maybe not as consistent in various conditions yet but absolutely fast in most normal dry condition. If that Assen race was pure dry/normal condition, VR will still have a tough task to beat MV. Also if MV had qualified better near the front, the result might be different but he's obviously still not as fast in the wet yet hence qualifying rather poorly. Anyway fantastic result in the end, not just because VR finally got a win this year but more because of the super tight point standing at the top! laugh.gif Hopefully next race time for DP and MM to strike back! biggrin.gif

I agree, but on wet/drying/getting wet VR is still relatively good compared to the other aliens. I also want DP to close up on the points in the next races. What I like about the season so far is you are on the top in one race, the in the next you are fourth in the championship. I thought VR was out of the running last few races till I saw what the points difference actually were.

Well VR is good at riding at such changing conditions BUT sometimes his decision making on the timing to change to slick is not spot on hence backfired and he lost races that he should've won. That was the case that lost him the 2015 title.

Yeah very unpredictable which is fantastic! laugh.gif Next race in Germany is another MM favorite, he has been dominating there like he dominates the US GP. So that would be a good chance for him to cut the lead some more and make the point standing even tighter! biggrin.gif Not sure about DP though, seem tough for him to win from MM in the next race. More realistically MM to win, then VR 2nd, MV 3rd, and Dovi 4th which will make the top 4 separated only by 2 pts! biggrin.gif

Yeah, VR decision making in the rain needs to be improved

Dovi in 250 was nicknamed Mr consistency. He looks at the big picture which makes him look like a tame racer.

No lah, 4th out of the group of those fast riders is not that bad what!
Rossi did not lost his mojo in 2015, he just lost his temper with MM in Sepang and that got the better of him but he did not lost the title because of that, but he lost it due to wrong decision making (playing it too safe) during the changing conditions in San Marino race. He should've won that race or at least finished 2nd and that was enough to win him the title despite whatever happened after Sepang.

MV says the new chassis doesn't really suite his riding style yet while VR is pretty happy with it.

Yup, so maybe MV would revert back to the older one if he still cannot make it work for him while VR continues with the new one. Looks like maybe Yamaha takes a lot of input from VR for the new chassis since he has been there for a long time, this is the challenge that MV needs to face. The other thing is they only have 1 new chassis for each rider hence if they need to change bikes in changing condition, they have to resort to a different/older one! That will be interesting.

VR is struggling again in both dry & wet, looks like he might need to go thru Q1! MV was fast in the dry so looks like he will still go straight to Q2 but in the wet he's also slow and the race might be in the wet/changing condition. Zarco also struggled and crashed once in the wet yesterday.

Honda though actually looks the strongest! MM & DP were very fast in the wet so if the race continues in similar condition, these 2 should be strong favorites. Dovi & Petrucci on the Ducs also look pretty good yesterday in the wet.

As expected, MM got another pole here and DP is also competitive. Looks like a great chance for MM & DP to catch up in the points as the top 3 are struggling in 9-11 grid. Surprising that Dovi got beaten by JLo this time in such condition. Zarco is also really struggling, got out qualified so comprehensively by Folger.

Lol.

Expected factory Yamaha to suffer here, but suddenly the results is not so bad for them.

One thing for sure, the bikes has no problem in the dry. laugh.gif

Suddenly MV can handle new chassis better than VR. Started behind but able to catch up and finish in front of him.
