Alex Barros wins the Brazilian Superbike finale. Impressive for a retired 46 year old.

It's a close call, a lot of people shown improvements/consistency this season. I would even consider Hector Barbera riding on a gp14.2 and consistently in the top 10. Eugene Laverty has also shown some good rides.

Confirmed! Rossi to replace Rosberg in Mercedes

Valentino Rossi leaves the world championship after 21 years to enlist in a new adventure, the world of Formula1 . This was confirmed this morning at a press conference at his ranch in Tavullia to announce his move to Mercedes as a replacement for recently retired Nico Rosberg .

"I am very happy to take this step in my career" , began the press conference tialiano. "Years ago I was about to happen to F1 and thought I had lost all option, but after the call Toto (Wolff) I realized that it was still possible and, although it has been a very difficult decision thought. .. it's now or never " . Regarding the question of what will happen now in MotoGP, Rossi has stated that he is not worried that his absence makes him lose a liking to the world. "In MotoGP they are coming up many new talents, such as Maverick Viñales, Andrea Iannone, Alex Rins, and it's time to give way. The world has the best drivers in the world, so it will never die" .

There have been many names that have been postulated since the current F1 world champion announced his retirement by surprise, and when it seemed that the choice would be the Finnish Williams Valtteri Bottas with whom the German team already had a preacuerdo- Toto Wolff Has ended up opting for a more media profile, the nine-time world champion motorcycle.

In fact, the same Wolff had already raised the option to find his new rider in the MotoGP , suggesting as options Jorge Lorenzo and Rossi. A Lorenzo, who had just test the Mercedes GP in Abu Dhabi , he was dismissed by his recent move to Ducati , so the Italian was the only option.

The name Rossi was gaining strength as time passed and a pilot who could give a bombshell to the world of Formula1 was not, and as a maneuver pressure, the father of 46 and recently recalled that Valentino was about to land In F1 a few years ago. As Rossi himself pointed out, an agreement was reached last December 25, Christmas Day, and it was decided to postpone the announcement to notify the decision to Yamaha for a few days.

At the moment it is unknown who will be his substitute in the signature of Iwata, but some sectors already speculate with the return of Lorenzo. We will be attentive to the decisions they make in the coming days.

if you believe Italian media

Hahaha no way la, he's too old already. VR is only offered to test drive it like JL, nothing more. WRC champ Ogier is also offered the same by Toto.

On another news Wurz said F1 needs to be way safer so can race at 450kph to bring up more excitement, do you agree?
http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/wurz-f1-...50-km-h-861689/

IMHO not really. I agree more to another article before which said to make F1 more exciting is to make the cars more difficult to drive so people can see how the drivers need to fight the car.

Well car racing is like that unless you got all competitors driving about the same cars or just very few cars used by everyone like Indy cars, or Australian Supercars. The problem is the gap between the cars in F1 is bigger between the top team and the rest, hence more difficult for the drivers to bridge that gap up. Actually in F1, such case had happened many times, the Mclaren 88-90 was the most obvious example then come the Williams of the 92-97 and so on until now. But the thing that made F1 more entertaining to watch back then especially the 80s-early 90s was the cars were more raw, dangerous, and difficult to handle and that's why people were at awe when watching these 'heroes' fight to tame their F1 beasts.

Anyway car racing will never be able to match 2 wheel racing in terms of the human involvement in controlling their machine coz  2 wheel balancing on the edge is inherently more difficult, physical, and dangerous than 4 wheels.
Totally agree! And get rid of all those DRS & hybrid systems, make the car more mechanical and raw.
But endurance racing for me is also too boring to watch coz too long!

Triumph will replace Honda as engine supplier from 2019 onwards. Good to have a different manufacturer join MotoGP.

Too dangerous I suppose.
ROC is already sometimes including bike racers, like VR & JL before, if I remember correctly. This year they have that Travis Pastrana.

They have rider representatives but they aren't racing bikes. Instead of different cars, it's different bikes
