They should. More manufacturers the better. I'd rather see more manufacturers than more satellite teams.

yamaha: high mid corner speed and high corner exit torque*    (*crossplane crankshaft)

honda: high corner entry speed and normal corner exit with high topspeed

ducati: low corner entry speed but high corner exit topspeed
all 3... yamaha suffer a lot because bike spending more time lean in corner at high speed..eating tyre..and torque for acceleration during leaning means more tyre eating issue...
so in simple...yamaha suffer the worst compared to honda and ducati

It isnt the crossplane itself that is doing the damage. Infact, Yamaha's doing really well with the crossplane layout. The real tyre eater is the crankshaft balance. Yamaha apparently made an engineering mistake by making the crank a  tiny bit too light, thus lesser inertia and too much torque further down the powerband which in creates wheelspin (tyre killer 101)

This year Italian Red with Shell are the fastest machines in MotoGP and F1, but both conceded championship due to human mistakes and errors. Next year they may be the dominant force again after regroup.
