Vinales topped all 3 testing season with quite a margin lap times, seems this year he could be dominating and crush everyone on the field... Waiting to see Rossi, Marquez, Pedrosa, and also Lorenzo feels helpless and no answer for his domination... Could it be like Stoner 2007 domination? Haha.

I don't think it'll be that easy especially beating MM. Even though MM was not the fastest in 1 lap but he was noted as the most consistent in producing consecutive fast race simulation laps. Note also that Honda looks to be in better shape compared to the last year during these tests. VR is also well known to be concentrating more on race pace instead of 1 lap raw speed as qualifying has never been his main strong point. Anyway this year should be very interesting indeed!

It's testing, Rossi said Marquez was sandbagging. He probably was too. We will see how it pans out in the first few races.

one thing weird is--- after so many years, stoner still looks "no problem" riding the ducati! He's still able to stay within the front runner group... How come?

Probably just natural raw talent, able to adapt quickly to reach the limits of whatever bike he's riding and blitz it! This was proven especially as he was able to immediately won a title on his first year in Honda, achieving similar feat as VR when he won right away after switching to Yamaha. A lost for MotoGP and us fans that he decided to retire so soon still in such top level.

But couldn't deny the Honda was the best and fastest bike during that period, just that pedrosa couldn't maintain the consistency to get the world championship... Yamaha bike only show raw pace during last 2 years...

Yeah Honda was the best bike on that year 2011 but not by a large margin and Yamaha fought back already in 2012 with JL winning the title.

Shoemaker a bit different, he was already getting old that time.

Well VR will still race for another 2 years, hopefully still at similar high level. But I think he will have his hands full with MV now, maybe even more so than with JL. biggrin.gif

MotoGP has been the Spanish playground for quite some time now. Italians are not doing well here, no one at the same level of VR yet. Even Biaggi back then was comprehensively beaten, IMHO no actually a close and entertaining rivalry if you ask me. Just the media tried to stir up the rivalry but actually VR rivalry with CS/JL/MM were much more intense and close.

No, I meant compared to Casey Stoner when he retired coz that was what we're talking leading to that. biggrin.gif
So Shoemaker retirement was still rather understandable and not too much of a surprise given his age but CS was way too early to retire while still very much at the top of his game.
