besides my love for motorcycles, which is why i love motogp than f1. rider's technical experiences count significantly.

no offence, but imo f1 is more like 10% drivers effort, 90% cars.

we need to see more drivers' influence in controlling the machine.  smile.gif

Wait until you watch endurance racing, the bestest & most unpredictable racing (be it 2 wheels or 4) biggrin.gif

10% machines, 10% efforts, 10% teamwork & 70% luck

Well car racing is like that unless you got all competitors driving about the same cars or just very few cars used by everyone like Indy cars, or Australian Supercars. The problem is the gap between the cars in F1 is bigger between the top team and the rest, hence more difficult for the drivers to bridge that gap up. Actually in F1, such case had happened many times, the Mclaren 88-90 was the most obvious example then come the Williams of the 92-97 and so on until now. But the thing that made F1 more entertaining to watch back then especially the 80s-early 90s was the cars were more raw, dangerous, and difficult to handle and that's why people were at awe when watching these 'heroes' fight to tame their F1 beasts.

Anyway car racing will never be able to match 2 wheel racing in terms of the human involvement in controlling their machine coz  2 wheel balancing on the edge is inherently more difficult, physical, and dangerous than 4 wheels.
Totally agree! And get rid of all those DRS & hybrid systems, make the car more mechanical and raw.
But endurance racing for me is also too boring to watch coz too long!

Usually I take a power nap at some moment during the race, only wake up for final hour

No, I meant compared to Casey Stoner when he retired coz that was what we're talking leading to that.  biggrin.gif
So Shoemaker retirement was still rather understandable and not too much of a surprise given his age but CS was way too early to retire while still very much at the top of his game.
*
If Stoner didn't retire too soon he'd probably become like Mick Doohan too

Jack Miller is carrying the torch for Australia but he's riding a satellite bike

Aaand now we're stuck with Spaniards dominating the sport doh.gif

Where's the Americans have gone lol

Well for Hayden I don't really put that as Hayden beating Rossi to win the title, but Rossi lost it himself and unlucky with reliability issues. I'd consider Hayden the luckiest and slowest world champ.

Ah ya, that guy also, very lucky to have won once when Doohan has retired and Rossi was still a rookie.
*
not to forget alex criville...he won the 500cc championship bcoz of mick doohan's career-ending crash (same case with kevin schwantz in 1993 after wayne rainey's crash)
