melanian sang nyuk mian @ lintas any difference from the gaya street one?
kedai kopi 33 for their sau pau the city bakery @ central plaza 1st floor, damn nice their sau pau, also when you're here, don forget to try out Tomyum @ Maggie's Cafe @ 2nd Floor, the best tomyum in town for me. And also the sotong tumbuk from the stalls @ entrance
yee fung laksa @ gaya street
kedai kopi syn lee @ towering for their tenom mee....they open until 2PM
fatt kee seafood restaurant a@ hilltop for their fish noodle(mee hoon) and their assorted fried fish parts or mdm ing @ towering / tung fung @ inanam
new mui vui @ hilltop for their pot stickers(dry and wet) and their grilled fish(open at night)
foo phing dim sum @ hill top for their dim sum(morning)
bukit padang parking lot stalls(open at noon) - ABC, sotong...etc etc for ABC, go for Damai ABC at Damai inside JW's Corner
kedai kopi ban hing @ menggatal for their buns(11AM for the 1st batch) when you're here, don miss out the famous Menggatal Nyuk Pau Baru Ngiu Chap also, the best ngiu chap for me in town.
kedai kopi sin nyuk pau @ menggatal(right at the entrance to menggatal town) = famous for their kaya kok(toasted pastry, i dnt know what its call in english) puff pastry
*
Also don't miss out
Nasi kerabu @ Warung Pokdi Kelate - Sulaman Central
Lokan bakar & coconut pudding @ Salut

oh ya forgotten abt tung fung inanam
as for the sang nyuk mian, definitely got difference...it might look the same but will taste a little different
dnt say with gaya street, even if compared to the jia siang at lintas already big difference, price also different
melanian is way cheaper compared to jia siang
the best tomyum is actually at kantin bakut but will be too far for TS, if TS go there thn might as well go tuaran eat tuaran mee laugh.gif
and singgah on the way to salut for the coconut jelly
another option for nasi kerabu is uncle garry @ damai
*
Jia siang everyday even nights full house shakehead.gif

I've tried that as well, their tomyum tuaran mee very nice also, i'm a tomyum lover but still i love maggie's cafe the best brows.gif u should give them a try

uncle garry no longer operates in their house @ Damai, they moved to Kepayan with very huge space. And uncle garry is over rated and expensive sweat.gif

Also if feeling adventurous, can go try Kadazan cuisine @ d'place kinabalu. Try their butod(sago worm), live or deep fried one brows.gif

jia siang everyday full house but doesn't taste nice and expensive
melanian is cheaper and taste better but less crowd
yes uncle garry moved
will try maggie's cafe for sure for comparison, right now restaurant sets a very high standard and i dnt even eat spicy food laugh.gif
yes the butod at the shell building..RM3 each
*
Yep i prefer melanian also, much bigger portion also but the soup banyak msg, some also said jia xiang soup is not healthy because they boil it 24 hours nonstop.

U don eat spicy? But the bakut one very kick lea o.O

Hi all, will be making a trip to KK next week, with plans to head to Kundasang and Kudat. Planning to rent a car for the 2 of us, but a bit undecided on what car to take.

Friends have advised us that it's better to go with a 4x4 as road conditions can be a bit poor. Don't know how updated that advice is tho..

Also read above that others here have driven up with a Bezza or Saga before, so wondering if a 4x4 is completely necessary? Price difference is quite substantial, but I don't want to get the cheaper option just for the sake of saving some money, but having a terrible experience during the drive.

What's your take on this guys? Thanks!

Do what in Kudat? Kudat is quite boring leh

shuang tian is a touristy place, same for welcome seafood. No comment as i'm no seafood freak, but i've recently tried a seafood place named "Ocean City" quite gooding, very near to welcome seafood too in Asia City.

malls can go to either Imago or Suria if your your time is very packed

can skip jesselton point, no point going there if you're not planning to go any pulaus

kuo man can skip too, nothing special. can try change to fatt kee fish noodle(about 20 mins drive from ur hotel) as you mentioned in your later post

when going up Kundasang, can pass by road side sinalau bakas stalls to try out smoked wild hog meats. Good & cheap too.
make sure you go this stall https://www.facebook.com/foodpornsabah/posts/868772179892447

Kah Hiong Ngiu chap is good, but there is a better one called Nyuk Pau Ngiu Chap but very far so i think you can stick with kah hiong.

Extra: Shoney's dining & bar(western) same row with ur hotel is not bad too.
