QUOTE(T231H @ Sep 21 2016, 08:24 PM) This maybe one of the hardest question to answer to my mind so don't feel bad if you don't get it spot on, if you cash in your chips in a certain investment it will almost certainly go up, if you stick with it you will almost certainly sedition go down, could taking half be the answer? Some said 'run your winners and cut your losers'. While others said 'it's never a bad time to take profits'. There is no correct time to take profits unless you are the only person in the world who can accurately time the markets, but profit, once taken, becomes real profit, in your hand. If you think the euphoria will continue and markets will rise further next week and beyond, stay put and enjoy it: if not, consider taking some profits, to enjoy, or re-invest at a better time. There is no right or wrong answers…it is just yours and other individuals. Hope this helps. (got these from the web...I cannot write that logical sense) |

Almost finished attachment with an asset management.. I think many of you guys own their fund.. very good fund
I dont own their fund.. so I guess I'm safe in terms of investment ethics.. otherwise I wouldve needed to sell all of the units related to the asset management before attaching with them.. Anyone going to InvestSmart? The schedule is a little bit confusing.. they're named session 1, session 2, etc.. so I couldnt decide which ones I want to go to.. QUOTE(Avangelice @ Sep 29 2016, 10:10 PM) correction. maximizing potential of returns would be making sure most of the funds aren't correlated. why buy the same funds when you should be investing in other funds. also true for the opposite. need to be careful not to buy negatively correlated funds coz its gonna offset each other |

QUOTE(howszat @ Sep 29 2016, 10:26 PM) No, you aren't correcting anything when you don't even understand the point. actually, arent correlated means they dont affect/follow each other at all.. one up, the other could be up, down, or sideways...Aren't correlated means if one up, the other down, and vice versa. Therefore, you are just averaging, not maximizing. |

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Sep 29 2016, 10:41 PM) I agree with Howszat in principal. while I agree with you that its more on minimising risk... its really something you should at least check once. read the market wizards book.. many legendary traders have expressed that they wish they had learnt how to manage risk.. while its true that trading and investing in UTs dont overlap much, its really to protect you from the downside you could have otherwise avoided. dont dismiss it altogether. i dont really bother myself too much with it though, just run a simple correlation then get done with it.to me that way is more for minimising the risk rather than for maximising returns. buying only "uncorelated" UTs hoping to maximise return is like hoping something like the KLSE of the 90s to come back again........any share and every share you buy also you will make money...... ........... i wonder when is that going to happen again. you must hope every sector, every country all going up at the same time in tandem.. you cant have the cake and eat it too.... you cant have 1% risk wanting to gain 30% return, metaphorically speaking.... |

QUOTE(xuzen @ Oct 3 2016, 11:05 AM) Friend Azam, hey thanks! haha yeah things are crazy right now with CFA, and work back in the office. We're almost reaching year end, so everyone's scrambling around trying to meet their KPI and ROI targets. Wonder if boss will approve my study leave So you are taking CFA, the undisputed gold standard education for financial analysis. This program is only available as post-graduate and is akin to taking a Masters in Finance. Do it well my friend, pay heed to your lecturer. Learn well, for in future who knows you might end up on the BUY side of things, as a Fund Manager. Who knows, perhaps in future, I could be participating as unit holder in the fund that you manage or I would be telling my friends and relative to participate as a unit-holder in the fund you are managing. Manage well the money that belongs to your client, you have a high responsibility to shoulder. There will be unit-holders that will need the money to fund their kids' education, some will need the money to pay their medical bills, some to provide for during their retirement period, some need the money to go Xuzen |

QUOTE(David3700 @ Oct 3 2016, 03:02 PM) Hi, I just join fundsupermart doing DIY on UTs. Depends on what time you execute the transaction. If purchased on 29th before 3pm, the price is the closing price on 29th. If after 3pm, the price is the closing price on the next business day.I have make a purchase and the system show transaction date is 29 Sep. So, my purchase NAV is based on 29 Sep or T+1 (30 Sep) or ?? Can sifu advise ? |

QUOTE(puchongite @ Oct 3 2016, 07:52 PM) Why ? A forum is the right place where people can discuss and argue. Why are we afraid of arguments and differences ? It's only bad if people don't argue and don't discuss but focussing only personal insults. I'm actually surprised some people don't consider what's happening around here as hostile in nature. Is it just me? |

QUOTE(TaintedSoul @ Oct 5 2016, 10:22 PM) Sifus..I bought my funds solely depends on the FSM recommended funds sheet. Not weird at all, thats what an inexperienced person would do. Selecting from recommended funds should be fine.. they're recommended for a reason. Although pls make sure that you're fine with the risk (volatility) you're taking. You don't wanna be in for a shocker when the market turns against you Whichever funds have higher return, i buy. Is it weird? trying to learn the trade from this forum.. |

Just wanna clarify something... when people say ROI here, do you guys mean the unrealised gain shown in the "Profit" column on your holdings page?
Kind confused coz in my circle, ROI means something else.. |
