I'm in the middle of buying an action camera. What should take a look into in buying one of those? Is the action camera has some sort of Optical Image Stabilizer? Not into 4K yet, 1080 enough for me. is the action camera different form Car DVR? can action camera be use as Car DVR camera?

1. Most importantly, the battery life, accessories availability the 2nd and features the last.
2. OIS is a new standard in action camera now. previously, the only stabilization that action cam has is EIS (in Sony models). Revl Arc made the first OIS action cam few months back. Now, Sony announced 2 models of new Action Cam lineup that features OIS, one shoots 4K and the other one FHD.
3. Different. Car DVR is not suitable for exterior usage.
4. Yes, with the correct accessories. Just remember to press the record button before you begin your journey.
