Hi
Would appreciate clarification from anyone using Maxis Data Roaming in China. Whether it is 2G only (as stated on the maxis website) or is 3G available, and if it is available on both China Mobile and China Unicom.
I'm using an iPhone 6 by the way.
Thanks!

Hi,
You may try to use the 3G connection as stated on our website most Malaysian device the bandwidth is not supported by China network. Hence the advise to switch to 2G.
TQ

Update:
I am currently in Beijing, and contrary to what maxis has said, 3G and 4G is available with China Unicom.
I did not use China Mobile.
All services accessible, including Facebook and Google.
I think when roaming on China Unicom, they seem to have a special network that is not blocked, thus the ability to access the usual websites that we know China blocks.

When you are roaming on Maxis preferred partner in the country you are visiting, it routes the data back through Maxis. It will show Maxis as your ISP. That is why when you are in China roaming with Maxis, you can access Facebook. You can do an ISP check on your phone and you will see that ISP is Maxis and not China Unicom.
