Hi I am new to PayPal smile.gif

Is it possible to connect my PayPal account to my Public Bank account?

If yes, if I receive/pay any transaction, would it update my bank account along?

Thanks smile.gif
*
You can only ADD a US Bank to your account to deposit funds. for withdrawal, you can add local banks. Charges apply
If you want to fund your Paypal account but don't have US bank account, then just use a malaysian debit/credit card

every transaction receive via paypal will NOT be reflected in your bank account unless you withdraw it into your bank account

QUOTE(dlaz @ Apr 14 2010, 01:18 PM)
Hi all...i want to ask you guys for paypal help..need to know more about..some basic questions but this thread is too much too search..hehe..
so here they are;
i want to use paypal for online purchases in USD.i dont have a credit card.yes i read about the link of paypal to bank account.
1.so can i link my paypal with Maybank or CIMB?
2.which one is better, link with bank account or debit card?
basically this "link" is where paypal withdraw the money for the payment rite?
the "link" is also to verify my paypal account rite?

soO..after i link the paypal and my account, then i can start paying with paypal?
ow ya,have you guys faced any charges/fees when you paid with paypal to an online store or to a person?

thanks all for the help...still new about this paypal thing..
*
for your question... well yes.. u can link your bank account to Paypal but it's only for withdrawal purpose only... Unless you have a US bank account the you can reload funds from bank a/c to paypal.

u still need a debit/credit card to reload funds...

else, you can try buying funds from some sellers here.. it's suppose to be illegal tho... and bear in mind there will be LIMIT sending/receiving on Unverified a/c if not mistaken.

QUOTE(dlaz @ Apr 14 2010, 10:08 PM)
icic...so basically the linking to my bank account is only for verification purpose?
so at the end we need the debit card eh...i'm still confused coz i read this at the website for paypal malaysia,
https://www.paypal.com/my/cgi-bin/webscr?cm...tside&nav=1.0.2  (point number 3)
after reading that, that's why i thought after we link the account with our paypal, then it will auto deduct from our account.correct me if im wrong ya,coz i'm still new at this thing.
*
not really... Linking your bank account is Optional for malaysian actually. verification is still being done for those with Credit/debit card. u still need to link a card in order to verify. during verification process, they will charge USD1.95 to your card and return it to u in paypal funds.

Paypal does not auto deduct with Malaysian bank accounts. that's only for US bank accounts.

QUOTE(ace.princess @ Apr 15 2010, 02:37 PM)
When they asked to link our credit card number to our Paypal accounts, is it solely just for verification purposes? Will they take payment from the linked credit card?

Let's say, after linking and exposing our credit card info to Paypal, can they possibly charge us on our credit cards in these circumstances:
i) surcharges and fees from paypal or ebay?
ii) if our Paypal accounts reach negative balance?
iii) if we become victims of fraudulent cases where buyer files for non-receipt (even when we've sent the item), and a chargeback is taken into effect?

I'm new to all these, would appreciate your input, so blurrrrr ~~~
*
as above.. they will charge USD1.95 for verification purpose.

i) surcharge is usualluy charged by paypal unless stated by ebay of any additional charges
ii) paypal won't reach negative balance.. usually if your funds not enough they'll just deduct from your card instead.
ii) depends when u raise a dispute they will investigate.

QUOTE(DT8 @ Apr 15 2010, 03:55 PM)
If your paypal is linked to debit/credit card. Your balance in paypal is always zero unless someone sent money to you. Any purchasing will be deducted from your debit/credit card.
*
Yes.. if balance is zero then they will take funds from your card and perform auto forex coversion to USD if yoou're buying items charging in USD. Not too sure how much % they charge to convert + the base conversation rate.

QUOTE(bension @ Apr 15 2010, 04:09 PM)

QUOTE(Chipsy @ May 19 2010, 09:17 PM)
Hi,

So sorry to ask this, but appreciate if someone could help me,
After receiving payments from my customers by paypal, therefore my paypal account has MYRxxxx.

Then, I do make payment thru paypal for purchases. But since my funds in paypal is sufficient enough, yet Paypal deducts from my Maybank account?

1. How is it possible to make them deduct from my paypal balance?
2. If i transfer to my maybank account, will maybank make a deduction from there again.

Hope someone can reply me...

Thanks
Sarah
*
Hi Sarah,

first of all.. are you linking your Maybank Visa Debit to your paypal account ?

By right, when you purchase any items using Paypal, paypal will usually deduct the balance first, if it's insufficient then it will deduct the remaining from your card.

Withdrawing paypal funds to a bank, paypal will charge you a fees.. kindly check their fee/rate page. But usually there will be conversion involved. e.g FOREX conversion . But i'm not 100% if there's any conversion done if your funds are in MYR... Anyone can confirm on this ??

I have tried to verify my paypal account before with two different debit cards but both failed.

Both banks gave me the same reason. Debit cards can no longer be used with paypal. Anyone else encounter the same situation? Could it be a directive from Bank Negara.
*
hmm.. i have one personal and one biz account with paypal.. one using debit card another using credit.. i dun see any issue verifying...
how much do you have in your debit card? if your debit card account is seperated from main account. make sure you have about RM35~40 in your account before u attempt to verify. and make sure you enable VbV or MSOS for your debit cards so that i can be used online =)

I always solve limitation problems by emailing them, they would reply in a day or two otherwise you have to call their customer service department.

They usually limit accounts that involves a lot of money in transactions. Not sure why they wanna limit yours for address and phone number problems.
*
This is usually due to Paypal's ANti-money laundering policy. that's why they're quite strict with it. recently, security has been tighten due to the wikileak case.

Wanna ask all Paypal pros...

I have a few Oversea customers. I will need them to pay me by paypal.

My question are ..

Should I ask them pay me in RM or USD ? Which is better?

If I wanna cash out my money from Paypal into my Debit card, If its in USD, I'll get charges + exchange rates charges right?
but if its in Rm, there won't be any exchange rates right?

So Rm is better?
*
it depends..

e.g if they sent funds in USD, - fees/charges = u get nett funds in USD, xfer back to ur debit card - forex conversion + withdrawal charges

if MYR, almost the same... u req payment in MYR, they pay in USD, paypal does the conversion for you. for some reason, you might get lesser than expected..

quite a tedious calculation i would say... rclxub.gif

QUOTE(iampokemon @ Mar 15 2011, 12:38 PM)
Of course it's better to get in RM. Because you actually set the currency rate for your buyer  laugh.gif

But if u get in usd, Paypal determines the currency rate and you know Paypal currency rate really sux, the last time I withdraw my money from USD is actually 0.1 lesser than the actual currency rate.

Here's some simple calculation:
Withdraw 2500usd(3.05 conversion) = RM7625 *This is paypal conversion
Withdraw 2500usd(3.15 conversion) = RM7875 *Actual rate

You will lose RM250 through currency exchange rate.

USD is primary used for international trade. Unless you expect the USD rate will rise in a few months time and you're not eager to take out the money, then choose USD. At least it could be part of your money investment  biggrin.gif

Choose withdraw to your MBE or PBE bank account, faster and no extra charges.
*
hmm.. i beg to differ....
there's charges if you're not withdrawing more than 400 if not mistaken

Hello just wanted to ask , what for i wanted to link my credit/debit card to my paypal account when i can use the bank account i've linked to it to make payment and withdraw fund??And beside that i'm a noob so i need to ask something, how paypal use our bank account number specified by us to make payment when the bank account number can only be use for depositing $$??Because i saw my mum give our house tenant her bank account number and the tenant will deposit rental to my mum account every month, and my mum told me the account number can only let us deposit $$ but not take,so why paypal mention we can use bank account to make payment??

Added on March 31, 2011, 3:54 amAnd addon is why do i have to add paypal funds through my debit/credit card or bank account when i can directly use this two methods to pay my stuff during online transaction instead of relying on the fund??
*
it's simple,

when paypal started, it wasn't meant for malaysian market at all. it was only used as a online medium of payment, therefore the name "e-currency" . they are also considered as a payment gateway. if you're buying something in the States and they only accept USD, do you think MYR can be accepted? Is there RHB, PUBLIC BANK, etc in the States? well, yes Maybank has one branch in New York but they only accept USD.

when a tenant deposit $$ into your mom's bank account, the bank is considered as a "payment gateway", same function as paypal. they act like a medium to help you accept funds from depositors.

Yes, you can always use bank account to transfer money, LOCALLY, international it's called remittance or telepgraphic transfer which will cost you extra $$ as fees. the fees varies from bank to bank. Paypal just help you to minimize those fees and charge the recipient of the funds instead.

Nono i not say my mum has a paypal account, she doesn't own one,but she has a saving account in CIMB bank , and we owned a house at pg and is currently renting it out , so the tenant would pay us the rental monthly through bank in , so my mum give him her bank account number so that he could bank in every month through ATM by using the number, and i just wonder whether the bank account can only use to deposit money or it could withdraw money too.So if it can be use to withdraw money, why my mum dooesn't hesitate to give the tenant her saving account number??Can't the tenant just use the saving account number to withdraw my mum account $$??And if answer is saving account cannot be used to withdraw $$ but can deposit $$,why in paypal they mention backup payment by using your saving account number since they cannot withdraw $$ from using the number
*
if you link your bank account number to paypal, u still need to authorise it also ma..

same concept... if your mom give her account number to the tenant, if that tenant is not authorised, he still cannot withdraw money even tho he has the account number..

lol.. i believe many of us here in LYN also exposed our SA numbers, takkan everyone also wanna try to withdraw money with just the SA numbers? kekeke tongue.gif
