I was thinking how to cut this mesh thing and came up with an idea.
Put a thick sharp rail in the mesh to create bigger hold, then use pliers to start cutting. I wonder if the shops let me try my idea.

Surely this is possible.
But cutting this mesh is definitely slower than conventional metal grille.
Anyway, if you are aiming for high security, mesh is not the product.

During the first MCO, I managed to secure a super deal for RM57 psqft from an unknown vendor.

Immediately ordered for my folding side and swing front doors, total 130sqft.

The outcome is definitely much better than those security mesh grille from mosquito net vendors. Visually, I don't see much difference comparing to panther protect product too. No idea with optima.

Anyway, the deal is over and price is back to about RM100 psqft. If you are looking for great deal, it may happen anytime during this pandemic.

Share some photos as well as the company name too? Thanks!

Please Google for LCL Aluminum.
They are from johor but serving Klang Valley customers too.
As I said, the super deal is no longer available.
The price is back to market rate..

Hmm do you know the thickness of the mesh based on the price you get? hmm.gif

Just ask them. :-)
Also, they provide sample to show.
Mine is 0.9mm SUS304.

I had similar mesh door in my previous house for many years, hence I roughly can know the difference.

0.9 is good.

I'm currently using 1.2mm feels too thick, visibility also affected...

Your 1.2mm mesh is Aluminium or Stainless Steel?

My previous mesh door had 1.2mm (or 1.3mm .. i forgot) but it is Aluminium.
The vendor said stainless steel has 0.9 or 1.0 mm only.
Anything thicker should be Aluminium and it will definitely make the room dimmer.

Thinking to do this for kitchen extension. Any comments?

Why would you want to do this?

The cost for both mesh and ACP awning could be higher than normal tile roof and brick wall.
Privacy is a problem when you turn on the light at night.
Furthermore, no matter how good is the product, 24/7 exposure to sun and rain will cause the paint to fade off eventually.
The mesh is normally powder coated which is not friendly for normal painting.

The only benefit is the extension work with this is less messy than the wet work.

Thanks for the feedback. Was considering this because my house already has a wall of 6 feet. If extend with roof I was told I need to knock off the whole wall and rebuilt with pillar to support the roof.

Yes only if you want a concrete slab roof.
anyway, it’s out of topic in this thread.

FYI, mesh screen is not cheap.
The final cost may be same or even more than your wet work extension.
