Do you play Dota2 as a Support Player?

Share your commends/grievances/rants on anything in the game. Share your support by affixing 'SPU-' in front of your nick! This will allow players to identify players that play as Support from LYN!

e.g. MalaysianOfficial1 --> SPU-MalaysianOfficial1

List down your preferences and what you would like your Carries to do: (Top 5)

I like it when my Carries:
1. Gank when possible.
2. Don't solo and die.
3. Keep an eye on the map.
4. Appreciate support players.
5. Always bring dust when there are invi opponents.

My playstyle as a Support:
1. I always counter-pick. Never settle on 1 support hero style.
2. I allocate ward resources to ensure relevant vision.
3. I aim to deward and deny vision.
4. I wait for a good initiation and move to disable opponents to ensure carries obtain kill.
5. I do not solo a lane and always prioritize farm for my carries.

Share your stories my fellow Supports!

No supp players here? I guess only me and you lol.

Usually play support but if there are no carries I go melee carry. Warding seems to be a difficult art now -

My gripe with support players are that they are not looking at map vision - when I do ping that there is no vision then they say no gold. Susah la like that..

I like tempo controlling support hero... also one of the most important thing being a support is finding a space to farm for your own item especially if u r no 4 position..(depends on timing of ur carry goes online, the tempo of the game etc)

Support players unite indeed! Something I wrote:

It’s difficult in toxic environments, but someone has to play the team player.

I do not know which role do you play in a team but it doesn’t matter, what I am going to write here applies to all. Think about it - a team is 5 players working together to reach a common objective that is to defeat opposing players. Without a team that synergizes well, you cannot win.

With that being said, it is important for a good pub player to be tactically and hero flexible. I have played enough Dota to be able to play a support when needed and a carry when I do not support.

In simple terms, a team full of supports cannot win the late game, and a team full of carries will lose the early game and there will not be a late game.

Another thing, it is easier to change yourself than to change others so my suggestion is for you to pick up support play and be the selfless one in the team. Yes you lose out on kills, and you don’t need kills. But what you lose in kills you gain in game sense, map awareness, leadership.

And those are skills that you can actually bring into real life. Think about it.

The feeling when you are support lion, managed to stun 4-5 enemies in one go and your team killed them all, while none of your team died, felt damn syok

Those game where you pick a core hero first but the other team members continue to pick core heroes and end up still doing the support role. Or those game where you are dead poor with all the ward plus de-warding with wards on cooldown and your teammates still spamming need wards. bangwall.gif

You just need to click "Alt + Ward" to shouw them the ward is not in stock. And don't care about them as long as you did your duty wink.gif

Fellow supporter here too, I'm a position 5, money is always a problem lol.

But once the team wins, it's all worth it.
I prefer heroes such as Phoenix, Disruptor, KOTL, Rubick, Witch Doctor those need fast-hands.

Supporters unite. cool2.gif

Supporters unite indeed. I have to say though to Kinggnik, if ranked games usually I will first pick as support. After all if I am a support I really care about early game impact, late game rotations. I will usually leave the last slot for my carry / midlaner depending on other picks.

Unless if you are talking about normal unranked games, of which I will just indicate which support I will play and hope carries pick to our team's advantage. biggrin.gif
