Hi all,

I just hope there's someone out there who can help and is patient enough to read through this:

Just recently, I have sold my AP motorola v3x to PeriukMan from LYF. Transaction of payment was smooth and efficient and I sent the phone via pos laju (at his request) on the 15th of January 2007. He received the phone on the 17th.

Seems that all was well, until he smsed me to say there was some sort of buzzing/robotic sound coming from the phone. I personally have never experienced that sound before cos while I was using the phone, it was fine. He wanted me to refund the cash to him, but the sales was final.

I think he brought the phone to fix on the 25th cos I received an sms from him asking if I was willing to pay half the fixing cost of the phone. (apparently it was the mike problem) I agreed to pay half as that was the best I can do for him.

Then today (26th) I've received a call from him asking if we could settle this thing. Turns out, it wasn't the mike and now he claims it's the motherboard (or something) and there's no parts in Sabah. The phone has to be fixed in KL and it might take time to fix. Time which he's not willing to waste on. He also said the parts would cost at least RM 150.

I had told him that I would take back the phone to fix and pay half for whatever payment that is needed. The phone is still under warranty till August/September. But he refused and offered me another solution; that I pay him back RM 600, take back the phone and fix it... then re-sell it.

What should I do?

What do u mean "Turns out, it wasn't the mike"
Did u get official receipt about the repairs he made?

Futhermore, if the set is still under warranty, why should payment be charged for repair?

FutherFuthermore, if u provide personal warranty, any probem should be returned to seller to fix it..

Lastly, Pls PM him to come to here...

1. I assumed he made the repairs as he mentioned he will send a copy of the receipt to me.

2. The set is still under warranty, but the buyer's from Sabah and the warranty's by Aspen.

3. I did not provide personal warranty as the phone was still under warranty. I don't really know the standard procedures as this was my first time selling my phone on LYF.

4. I have PM-ed him regarding this thread... and sms as well.

This is LYN not LYF smile.gif

Btw, how long is the personal warranty given to him? None? Because there's warranty left for the phone? unsure.gif
Full refund? hmm.gif Bear the repair costs together sounds reasonable. smile.gif

Product Note: Motorola V3 RAZR Keypad And Speaker Noise -All Markets
(COR, DMDR, Indirect Internal/External)
Some users of the Motorola V3 RAZR may hear a hum or a high pitch tone emanating from their device at certain points during use.
(Mon, November 07, 2005)
Issue/Volume number: 1
OVERVIEW

Both of these sounds can occur as part of the normal operation of this device and are NOT an indication of a problem or defect in the unit.

NOTE:  No warranty exchanges should be executed for either issue if consistent with those that occur during the normal operation of the device.

CRITICAL, MUST KNOW/MUST DO

With normal use of the device these sounds are commonly heard when:

(Tone) The phone is held near the ear before making a call. When a call is active the software in the phone changes the frequency of the tone to one at or below the low end of the normal audible range (Please note that persons with sensitive hearing may still be able to hear the tone).
(Hum) The keypad is held close to the ear (much closer than in normal calling position). It is due to the inherent properties of the electro-luminescent backlights used in the product.

Customer / Embedded Base Resolution:

If a customer requests assistance or an exchange due to the buzz or high pitch tone from a V3:

1. Verify that noise or tone is consistent with normal operation by:

A. Tone in speaker:  Verify the tone is eliminated or reduced to a non-distraction level by placing the unit on a call and listening via the earpiece speaker.

B. Keypad "hum":   Listen to the keypad when the backlights are active.  Wait until backlight times out.  The "hum" should follow action of backlights

If you determine that the sounds are consistent with these known occurrences, NO exchange is warranted.

2. If found to be inconsistent with normal operation, then proceed with standard troubleshooting / exchange processes.

ACCOUNTABILITY/RESPONSIBILITY

Identify customers impacted by this issue and follow appropriate procedures.

Is this buzzing sound you mean? This apply to V3, V3i, V3x

The thread link http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=396107&hl=

1. Have u got the copy of the receipt?

2. Next time its advisable to sell to same location buyer if its AP warranty...

3. yeah u didnt state personal warranty....

Well......How much was the repair cost for the mic?
If he dont want to send back for repair, u could buy the parts and courrier to him so he can take to phoneshop to repair, but anything u cant be held responsible..
Or just accept his condition.....

p/s : its "mic" not "mike"

@ fruitie

My mistake. Personal warranty was not given due to the reason the phone was still under warranty. The buyer never mentioned anything about personal warranty so I didn't think about it as well.

@ adriankhoo153

I don't know if that is the buzzing sound as when I used that phone previously, it was fine. No buzzing.. nothing. The only minor defect was prolly the battery cover being loose.. and I know that's normal with all motorola v3/v3i/v3x cos I did some research before buying.

@ WaCKy-Angel

I did want to sell to people who was from the same location. But he was the only buyer that was willing to pay the price I'm selling for and also initially he told me he had a friend who was in KL.

I do not have the copy of the receipt of the phone if that's what you're asking. Repair of the mic would cost RM 40 according to the buyer. The buying of parts and courier it to the buyer to fix would be an option, we'll see what he says. I'm also looking for other options other than me "refunding" him the money because it wouldn't be fair if the damage wasn't caused by me.

hai,
here i am. sorry guyz, just came back from work. thanks for all the suggestion / opinion. as already explained:
a) i really enjoyed using the phone, but get really annoyed with the buzzing / robotic sound (which are so loud) and tried to fix it. but it didnt work.
b) my proposal to the seller: i send back the phone (i bear the cost), she refund my money (my asking price is only RM600, which i originally bought RM630), she claim the AP Warranty, fix it, and perhaps she could sell back the phone.

all i ever wanted was a good / working condition phone.
so, any ideas guys?

I think he brought the phone to fix on the 25th cos I received an sms from him asking if I was willing to pay half the fixing cost of the phone. (apparently it was the mike problem) I agreed to pay half as that was the best I can do for him.
From here we can see that,
periukman called TS and asked whether TS willing to pay the fixing cost or not, and TS agreed to bear half. TS didn't ask periukman to send it for fixing. It was periukman's decision to send it to shop for fixing and he asked TS whether she willing to bear half the cost or not.

btw periukman could you
-just snap and post the receipt of fixing cost smile.gif so that we can know the amount involved

If the buyer already brought to the shop for fixing...then cannot send back to claim warranty...because TS doesn't provide the personal warranty so I think in this case the buyer cannot send back coz unfair for seller (the warranty is voided) So the accurate option is the buyer shows the receipt here and TS bear a half of it. That's all can do

i can post the scanned receipt for you guyz, no prob, but as already explained by the seller:
Turns out, it wasn't the mike and now he claims it's the motherboard (or something) and there's no parts in Sabah. The phone has to be fixed in KL and it might take time to fix. Time which he's not willing to waste on. He also said the parts would cost at least RM 150.

At first the actual cost for fixing the mic was rm40. since the problem is not the mic, so the technician return me back RM30 (he only charged me RM10). and thats why i didnt ask TS to bankin me the money first. Its ok lah, since the cost is only RM10, let me myself handle the cost. For me, money is not the real issue here, i just want the phone to be functioning, i just want to use something which i already paid. Make my money worth..

Like the others said here... think the warranty is void since the phone has been fixed. I definitely want him to have a good functioning phone and am sorry to hear that this kinda thing happened.

I am already willing to pay for half of the fixing cost plus both postage cost, but the buyer is insisting on the option of me refunding him the money while I get it fixed on my own.

But with a void warranty, I am paying RM 600 back to the seller, plus an additional RM 150+ for spare parts (price according to the buyer who asked around) which I think is silly (no offence) cos that would mean I'm already paying a total of RM 750 which is more than the inital selling price. sad.gif

as far as i know
when you fix the phone, u already ruin the warranty seal n you r totally responsible to whatever thing u do

for me, periukman has to bearer everything he has done to the phone
The right & first thing to do, when you found the phone has a problem
contact the seller n give the phone back
i wonder also whether angelceres gave periukman personal warranty or not
in personal warranty terms, the buyer can send back the item if not satisfy
this is how personal warranty works

my 2 cents

I did not provide personal warranty ask he did not ask. My phone still had warranty as well.

Anyway... PeriukMan has sent me an sms stating he cannot post in this thread. And this was what he said:

"I cant post at the thread. Mebbe server prob or sumthing. will try again later. u used the word 'silly', saying dat my proposal 2 u is silly, u didnt get wat i mean".

my reply: I got wat u meant. I used the word silly for having 2 pay so much and sell so low due 2 warranty void. Cos 2 sell d phn again without warranty is not worth it.

"if i ask u to send it to warranty, and let them fix, y do u need to pay me again the RM 150? whos silly now? pls mind yr word ok

my reply: I shall reply to your sms in the thread.

who ask u to pay so much? did i ask u to bank in the service cost? or the postlaju cost? am i not being considerate here? am i a greedy man?

u open d thread 2 seek advice, n now ure saying my suggestion's silly? yeah i really wanna post this in d thread but i cant

I never replied the last two sms because I was going to post here. PeriukMan, you sent me an sms asking if I would pay half for the servicing of the mic. I agreed because I thought that was at least I could do since we're both going through this unpleasant situation.

Then came to the point of fixing the "motherboard", I also agreed to paying half of the RM 150 service cost and postage because again, I thought it was the least I could do. If there was still warranty on the phone, you could have still sent it to me anyway so I can get it fixed. I've offered to pay for the postage both ways for that as well.

We're trying to look for a win-win solution but the solutions so far is giving me the losing end. Again, the word "silly" I used here isn't to say, "You're stupid for suggesting that," it was merely to say that I don't think it's worth it for me.
