How much I have spent in the past 2 years (2014-2015):
1. facial treatments: RM 7563 (@2 salons, 40+ sessions)
2. scalp + hair treatments: RM 10303.90 (40+ sessions)
3. body hair removal treatments: RM 6094.40 (20 sessions, for 2 years, remove hair on arms, legs, hands, armpits, bikini line)
4. tummy detox + lymphatic massage treatments: RM 4688 (30 sessions, whole body)
Total: RM 28649.30 for 2 years of treatments/ 130+ sessions = average is RM200+ per session (2-3 hours)
** Please note that these are old prices for packages purchased between 2014 and 2015, and before GST ; salons usually adjust their prices every 2-3 years due to inflation as well.
I'm here not to show off anything, but to help you make wiser decisions if you, one day, decide to sign up a treatment package.
MY STORY & QUICK REVIEWS
Due to work stress and long working hours, my body wasn't in good condition. My face had lots of pimples, my period wasn't regular, and I also suffered itchy scalp & hair loss. I'm glad I got all these problems solved after treatments. I'm happy with the results BUT not really happy with: (1) the money I had to pay & (2) some of the salons & their services.
Of all the treatments, I have no regrets signing up for body hair removal treatments with Salon M. I calculated before; its packages are the most affordable of all with permanent results guaranteed (compared to another famous hair removal salon, if you get what I mean). My cousin who did hers at the famous hair removal salon had spent 8k on removing arm hair alone. She didn't like their service.
Next, I'm quite happy with my tummy detox + lymphatic massage treatments as well. It helps to regulate my hormones, remove hard stool & 'wind' from body, improve circulation & solve sleeping problems, lose weight... so it's worth it. I have recommended a few friends to try it out.
Moving on, I also go to 2 beauty salons for facial treatments. I've been with Salon S for 2 years; their treatments & products are good & effective, but the service is getting worse (coz not enough staff). The other day I couldn't hold it any longer coz the treatment started 30 mins later than the appointed time, & it was the 2nd time it occurred. I lost my temper. Well, maybe it's just me (coz I'm an 'old customer' mah), but they seem to be doing well and expanding. I'll recommend this salon for their treatments (4.5 stars), but service-wise, 3.5 stars. Anyway, I haven't talked to the boss yet, maybe the service will improve after I do that. Another plus point is they are not pushy in doing sales.
Then, I got to know Salon B when I tried its trial facial. Wow! Fantastic-lah; I like the ambience and the service of the salon. The packages are also cheaper than Salon S. I find myself very relaxed at Salon B. I was happy there until one day, Salon B made a mistake. Again, the treatment was 30 mins late so I got very pissed off and left, but the staff rushed out to apologise. The next day, I received an SMS of apology that included a free eye treatment as compensation. This showed good CS (OK, mistake forgiven!). I love to do facials at Salon B. The extraction is not painful at all & they're good at soothing skin so that customers won't have red dots on their face after extraction. Highly recommended. Another plus point is they don't push customers to buy products. Instead, they give free samples to customers to try first.
The one that I regret signing up is hair & scalp treatment packages with Salon H. It's a love-hate relationship. Treatments are good & effective but the staff are pushy in doing sales. The other day, the staff asked me to top-up another RM800, I exploded & said sternly, "I HAVE ALREADY SPENT 10K! NO NEED!!!" She said, "SURE AH?! NO REGRETS AH?! ONLY OFFER THIS TIME WOR..."
Actually, if you have oily scalp or hair loss problems, please try medicated/ professional shampoos, tonics, & other products recommended by medical doctors specializing in scalp care FIRST. If you don't want to see a hair/ scalp medical specialist coz your problem is not that serious yet, go online to Amazon.com, read the product reviews from verified buyers, and get those products yourself. DON'T SIGN ANY PACKAGE with those hair/scalp treatment salons first! I should have done that to save my $$$. Don't let your purse/wallet bleed like mine...
I visited 7 other salons but didn't not sign anything with them due to their service, salon ambience, attitude etc.
INSIDER TIPS & TRICKS for you
1. Make sure the salon has comfortable and relaxing environment
2. Find out what products they use. Judge for yourself whether these products suit your skin type & read reviews online.
3. BARGAIN for best price (esp. if you're dealing with sales staff who are pushy. I got 30-50% lower price after bargaining.)
4. Set a limit to your budget. No matter how cheap they offer you the second/ third/ fourth package, they all snowball to a huge figure in the end, so don't sign up too many packages. Max.2 packages at any one time & ONLY renew after you've finished paying off the existing ones.
5. Know the boss/ person-in-charge. Complain to him/her whenever you're unhappy about something.
6. Get free samples OR treatment trials. If you don't want to buy any product or package at the moment, try this to get out of the place. If they offer samples & free trials, good; you can try first and decide later. If they don't, they are lousy salons & are not sincere in doing biz.
If you need the contact details, pm me. I've recommended my friends and own cousin to the good ones, & they get special offer.
I'm sharing here because I know that there are currently many salons doing promotions on FB. Though some of those salons are lousy ones, people still sign up (coz they don't know ma... & I can't comment there, "EH you people, don't go ah!">.<). One of them was my friend. She went for a trial treatment after signing up on FB, BUT the beautician accidentally poked her skin with scissors, and my friend bled. It was quite a deep wound but the staff didn't know how to do first aid properly, so my friend had some infection the next day and had to go for an injection at a medical clinic. If you can read Mandarin, this was what she wrote on her FB:
Kesian betul. I didn't know she was going there. It just happened a few months ago in June 2016. She tried to ask for compensation from the company to pay for the injection, but to no avail.
Another important thing to note:
Once you've signed up a package by paying with credit card instalment, and are extremely unhappy with the service provided, you have to get the refund from the beauty salon first and then settle in full with the bank via written notice. I just called Maybank CS hotline to ask about the procedure; it's like paying off your car loan with early settlement. Well, it's not easy to get a refund from some bloodsucking companies.... so .... it's either you bear with it or fight for it.
Hope this sharing helps you much.
