Hi everyone,

I just owned Honda City 2016 and having a small issue as stated below;

The car is completely quite when it runs over potholes, crusing in highways, etc. but when I drive over harsh road condition I hear loud vibration noise from the steering. I got annoyed and I decided to unlock the tilt and telescopic lock immediately the sound disappears, when the lock is put back, the sound comes back. Anyone could explain on the matter? icon_question.gif

I am experiencing the same issue with my Honda City 2017 Facelift. At first i thought it was the dashboard but my dealer told me it was the steering rack. The rack cover is loose which is making the noise. I pressed it down when it was making noise and the sound disappears.

Have you brought yours to the service centre to check? If you have solved your problem, pls share on how you fixed yours. Help is much appreciated

I own a honda city 2016. I have the same problem. Check every thing in front of the car. The area service manager checked the car and agreed to check the steering column tomorrow. He said the problem might be in the column. If found they will replace the column.
Please mail your problems to honda and make honda replace the column.

did your problem solved by the sc? hows the sound heard like? is it sounds like loosen nut or screw? like 'cling cling cling' when cruise on harsh road? my 2016 city also facing similar problem with yours, but the sound will gone under hot sun... blink.gif

This a very common problem. Most sc know about it once you tell them. Fixed mine at Rawang but came back after few months. Complained again at sg long, fixed and haven't come back for quite some time now.

I have a similar experience with the steering rack about 2 years back and the SC has replaced it under warranty. Fast forward 2020 my car is no longer under warranty and the steering rack issur has come back to haunt me again. This time at my own cost. Estimated to cost RM1.8k Seems like honda is making disposable cars these days. Yet to replace as I have just spent RM1k on major service this mth.
