i won't think of it as "burnt"...travelling is to expose yourself to different cultures and gain experience, along the way may meet some new people / friends
*
sorry, I didn't mean it in a negative way. I meant spent. "burnt" was a poor choice of word. sweat.gif

I also travel a lot, but mostly not with family members and mostly in hostels. So I never realised how much it can actually cost.

I'm thinking of visiting Prague, Budapest and Krakow. Do you think it's advisable considering the transport etc?

I've been to Prague before but I wouldn't mind going back again.

I have been to Budapest and Prague. Budapest was below my expectations, I would recommend going to Warsaw instead, one of my favourite cities in Europe. Beware Warsaw is not a so cute touristic town like Prague or Krakow. Which for me is part of the charm. Warsawites are not tired sick of stupid tourists like they definitely are in Budapest.

how many days / nights for Prague, Budapest, Krakow and Warsaw?

just normal. Can't compete with Emirates, Qatar etc....

but at least you don't need to transit in the middle east.

Direct flights too long for me... at the 7 to 8 hour mark.. very very uneasy..nowadays I prefer a break...

I’m the opposite of you. Nowadays I prefer a long flight to Europe then a shorter flight to destination from Europe. Reason being on the 12 hours flight to Europe, I will have more “continuous” rest, at least 6-8 hours. Middle East flight breaks the journey to approx 7 hours + 7 hours so the time you get for rest is max 3-4 hours.
*
if business class, I prefer long hours, like more than 10 hours....

for economy class, I can't really sleep so I can't get 6 to 8 hours sleep anyway.
Break is good but .... the problem is the security control. I don't know why have to go through security each time you transit. Can't they just check security from the departure city? Security control is annoying for transit especially if you got liquid, laptop etc...

I have been to Budapest, Prague and Warsaw. However, Warsaw was not a good experience for me. Different people might have different experience.

Been to Budapest twice, one of my favorite cities. I have a Hungarian friend who hosted me whenever I travel there. Must try the goulash soup, langos, chimney cake and Hungarian pancakes (in the shape of a roll with different filling).
If you drink alcohol, you can try Unicum and Palinka. Go up to the mountain nearby where there's a statue to get a nice view of the whole city, especially at night. The spa was a good experience. Cost of living in Budapest is relatively low but his city has a lot to offer.

Only stayed 2 days in Prague but I wished I had stayed longer. Will be back again. In term of food, Prague is quite similar to Budapest.

Warsaw is more expensive than Budapest, Prague or KL. It has a rich history but not much for tourists. Quite a lot Chinese people has settled down here. The Chinese name of Warsaw is 华沙. It sounds very Chinese alright.
Won't visit Warsaw again but will consider Krakow and Gdansk.
*
thanks! So how many days would you budget for Prague, Budapest and Krakow?

I only have 8 days, 8 nights.

If you really want to visit Warsaw, I would suggest you to spend the shortest time there.
Other close by options are Vienna and Bratislava. I enjoyed both of them.

sorry. I typed wrongly.

I meant, Prague, Budapest and Krakow. I'm flying in to Budapest and leaving from Krakow. So definitely have to spend time there.

Maybe 8 days 8 nights are not enough for 3 locations.... maybe I'll cut out Prague.

Ok. Another route is Budapest -> Bratislava -> Krakow. If you don't mind that it's a bit packed.

Bratislava is a small city. Just one day is enough to walk to see the whole place. Cost of living is low there.
Well connected by bus/train to/from Budapest/Krakow.
*
actually, I've been to both Prague and Bratislava. I'd like to revisit Prague again.

I think 4D4N for Budapest and Krakow may seem a bit too much, that's why I was thinking of adding another destination.
At the same time, 8D8N for 3 destinations seems a bit pack.... I feel like I need 2.5 days for Prague and Cesky Krumlov.

I see you have already visited Bratislava.
Then 4 days each for Budapest and Prague is a good plan. Both are my favorite, I would enjoy them like a local.
Theculturetrip app might give you some good info.

did you bring Euro and change there? or change before you arrive?
