Hard steel ~= good steel.
We muse steel because it is ductile enough to be safe, but hard enough to be strong. Cannot be both at the same time.

it is not. there are plenty of Damascus steel swords left. Saudi king has one. the method to produce has been lost and the best swords in the world are Damascus steel made. even more deadly than Japanese katana.
